so what did my wandering eyes did appear...but a season pass for my birthday that I will hold oh so dear!
Yesterday, on my 34th (ack!) birthday- my parents surprised me with a Cedar Point Platinum Pass. Well...with a computer print out anyway. I drove through the gloom and danger of a rainy Route 2 to get the actual pass yesterday afternoon. What normally is a 1 hour drive took almost 1 hour and 45 minutes thanks to really slow pick up trucks, semis and rain.
As I approached Cedar Point, the rain stopped and the sun came out. Even though I worked at the park for years and I know where the season pass office is...I still asked where I should park. Things 'do' change after 12 years. Alex, at the parking ticket booth, was exceedingly upbeat and friendly. He asked where I was from, how the drive was, etc. He directed me towards the next parking attendant, who was clearly from another country. We had a language barrier because when I asked where to park to go to the season pass office...he nodded his head confused and said "Yes...pass is good!". I tried rephrasing my question and asked him another three times. He continued to look confused. Luckily at almost 4pm, there was no traffic. I parked by 13 C and walked to the Season Pass Office.
The girl at the window whispered to "go around to the glass door" as if I was entering a speakeasy. I found it rather funny. An elderly gentlemen answered the door and let me in. Seriously...and this is funny (yet inappropriate)- the girl at the desk was lying with her arms sprawled out and half asleep! I think I woke her up! I said "Hi there! I'm here for my season pass!"....she took my confirmation paper, scanned it...then handed me the pass...all without talking. I then asked if there was anything else I needed to do. She silently took my picture and stared blankly at me. The quiet was so unsettling! I then said, "Well...umm..thank you!! Have a great day!!". She stared blankly.
I then drove home once again on Route 2. I was making great time,...going "slightly" over the speed limit (shhh!) when I noticed this car bounding towards me (4:15pm??) and swerving in and out of lanes and off the road as if she may have been drunk. I tried to avoid her. I came upon the Sandusky Bay bridge and wouldn't you know it..as soon as I was on the west side- she swerved into the left lane, nearly sideswiping me. My brand new car went off the road as I slammed on the brakes. I looked over- it was a very young teenage girl talking on a cell phone. Ugh! Grrr!
There is never a dull moment when Cedar Point trips are involved, I tell ya!
I had a similar experience whilst driving my cycle last week. If I had a little more steel between me and the idiot I would have taken up chase...Glad you're ok.
If she wasn't driving so fast and erratically- I should have written down her license plate # and called 911.
I mean she "seriously" had to be driving at LEAST 90mph and weaving in and out of lanes in no particular fashion. All the while using her hands to express herself while chatting on the cell phone.
