Seagulls and Gatekeeper

Does anyone else think that seagulls from the lot will be a problem for Gatekeeper? Already there are many seagulls in the first run pics. They can sit and poop on the keyhole towers, on the barrel roll tracks not to mention riders possibly getting smacked by them. LOL!

I don't see it being a huge issue, but I'm sure they'll put spikes on the towers and track if it becomes a problem.

Sit upright, hold on tight, and enjoy your ride!

If it was a problem, or they really cared, they would have done something with Raptor years ago.

The poop is one thing, but the getting in the way of the train will be a different story. I am sure that most gull's will see the train coming, but there is a chance, and lets hope they think of something before something bad happens.

The coasters hit birds all the time. It's nothing new. In 2006 MF hit a endangered hawk. I've personally had to remove to birds from MF when I worked there in 2006.

If wicked twister and raptor can do it, so can gatekeeper.

We rode Beast two year ago and the car we were in had three fresh dead birds in it.

Can't forget about Fabio on Apollo's Chariot.

When I worked corkscrew I had a few dead birds that wound up in the axle of the first car a few times that had to be removed...it just happens...basically go in, take it off, clean it up, return to operations...besides...it was one less bird to crap on my car during my shift so I somewhat chuckled a bit under my breath...stupid seagulls

Last year I was sitting on a seat with the SKYHAWK. The ride was about to run. Before it did a Seagull Crpped on me. Thank God it was on my head. It was on my legs.

Wait so was it on your head or legs? Either way a seagull crapping on me would be a bad day.

and how can you ride with Skyhawk on skyhawk? :)

Those stupid seagulls have always been a problem at CP, even when I worked there in the early 80's -- of course, back then, we were allowed to go out and spray for bugs and set out poison for the birds...not allowed these days...

I always thought the reason there was such a huge gull problem with Raptor is because the supports for the inverted track create a lot of perches for the birds. I was there the day in May 2005 when a girl on Millennium Force was hit in the face during the ride ala Fabio. I don't remember if it was reported as a gull or not. I would imagine most of the birds will learn the keyhole sculptures are not a good place to be during operating hours, but I'm sure we'll hear stories of being pooped on from the birds perching on the tops of the towers eventually.

As long as none of those Seagulls decided to build a nest anywhere near Gatekeeper for that is another problem in itself. I can see a bird or two being hit by Gatekeeper, hopefully no one gets hurt. Funny story when I was working at the park and Dragster hit a bird. It was a explosion of white feathers and all that was found was the beak a leg and a few feathers. First time poster BTW

I remember I saw a bird with a nest on top of the raptor a couple years ago. But it didn't seem scared at all from the ride, which amazed me.

I thought Jeff had video somewhere, or maybe an animated gif, of seagulls on one of Mantis' supports as a train roared by. Didn't even bother them.

There are birds nests on the bars holding up the brakes on Millennium, and they stay there even when the trains come in. Not much will phase them.

The seagulls have been creating a plot ever since the ride was announced. There will always be AT LEAST 5 seagulls on duty during the day waiting to poop on the supports. At night, there will be about 20 seagulls on duty making sure to attack anyone who attempts to clean off their mess.

This reminds of the name Jeff threw out there for this coaster: Angry Seagull. That was great. The wife and I have been calling it that ever since. It just stuck.

birds will ALWAYS get in the way of things, there is not many ways around it. but it does not happen all that often. Lets just hope it does not happen here.
