I don’t really want to jump in on a topic about a Screamscape rumor but I wanted to at least say this: Has anyone thought they might be removing a coaster to only add flat/circular? Just because a coaster is removed does not mean another coaster needs to take its place. For example Wildcat. To small of a footprint for a nice coaster but enough space for a Huss Giant, like maybe a Top Spin.
Just throwing that out there. But Dave also made some good points too.
Gemini is NOT going anywhere. Not that coaster.
What's wrong with a skyswatter? Ive seen these before, but how are they not doing well in the US?
Maxair has GREAT capacity. That thing sucks up people and the line moves so fast. Skyhawk, the line is slow and it takes WAY too long to load and check the lapbars on it. Yet, the ride time itself is shorter than Maxair!!
Has anyone thought they might be removing a coaster to only add flat/circular?
In fact, yes. I dont think anyone has ruled that out.
They could replace Disaster Transport with a shrubbery, and it would be a major improvement.
Promoter of fog.
Yes, but before they could call it an improvement they would have to add a second shrubbery but slightly higher so as to create a two level effect with a little path running down the middle.
Then they MIGHT be able to call it an improvement.

If they're in a race to have the most roller coasters, removing one doesn't help.

I agree with Miss Maverick. Everyone keeps saying that Gemini is doing bad, look at the chart again, it's the 4th or 5th highest ride, depending on which of the 2 charts you're looking at. *** Edited 12/6/2007 5:37:19 PM UTC by nulemoni***
Compared to what it could do before the air-gates were installed (thus slowing the load/unload time) it is down. Its still a great ride that does a great job, but no-where near what it is capable of.
Apparently so many people go pushed across the yellow line and into the way of moving trains that just the yellow lines were no longer effective.

I believe (at least, I recall hearing) that the reason for the gates is due to a change in Ohio law that required all coasters to have gates by 2007.

Well, as far as I know, only one exists in the US. First it was at SF Astroworld and then was moved to SF New England. It's been plagued with downtime, and is being removed from the park for the 2008 season and is listed for sale. So, I don't really think S&S perfected the ride. But, maybe that one was just a lemon? One thing is for sure though; we don't see these being installed like gang busters like the S&S swings. So, something's up with them.
I didn't get to ride it this year because it broke every time it was our turn to get on. But, it looks wicked. I've heard mixed reviews. Some people love it, some people despise it. So, I don't know.

I'm pretty sure CP won that race years ago. Magic Mountain has been removing coasters. I think they are down to 15 or so. CP is still at least 2 or 3 coasters ahead of the next closest park.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
On their home page, Magic Mountain has the following quote:
Six Flags Magic Mountain is known worldwide as a thrill ride haven with 14 world-class roller coasters.
So yeah, I don't think there's a "race" anymore. Even Canada's Wonderland has 15 coasters.
Cedar Point breaks records with their coasters every year. Gemini is an amazing woody and tearing that down if just a wasted thought. No way would they ever do that. Wildcat on the other hand, is, yes, a carnival-type coaster. Has anyone ever noticed that it kills your neck and back when you get off? And on top of it, it's always breaking down or cars get stuck. They could build something, maybe not a coaster, but more as a thrill ride. Topple Tower maybe?
Cedar point should get a top spin ride. Ive been on the one at KI (tomb raider) and it sucks. They dont even flip you, barely, and all the water elements and stuff that was supposed to be used on it were not on. Cedar point could get one and put it in the spot where the stadium is, IF they tear it down...

So, applying that logic, I would guess that it would be disaster transport. And here's why:
1. The ride has been left to slowly decay its theming; no visible improvements have been made to this ride whatsoever.
2. The pending sale of Demon Drop; it's in the area
3. The apparent demolition of the aquatic stadium; it's in the area
4. SkyHawk and Maverick; both located in the back of the park, which IMO would rule out that area getting the next dose of "big attention", which leaves the front as a possiblity.
There may be some signs I have missed and/or overlooked, but it seems to me that all signs point to at the very least a facelift for that area of the park. DT is certainly an "older steel coaster" (well, I guess it's steel).
Kinzel has already been stated as saying that he regrets DT; he admits it was a flop, and I simply cannot believe that even the blind cannot see that monstrosity as being the ugliest attraction in any park on this planet.
Seriously, if there were a "power rankings" for ugliest attraction, Disaster Transport of the runaway winner.
I agree with you and many others about this ride Kevin! Although there may be many people who likes DT the ride is a waste anymore.Look I rode this ride the first year when it was built and it wasn't that great out in the open then. Then they invest a few mills to just enclose it and then let it go to waste. Now why would they want to keep this gapping wound open especially since DD is for sale and they're willing to depart with that ride and tear down the auqua stadium?Like Kevin said it's time to move back up front and put in a killer coaster and get rid of that eyesore! It just looks like a cardboard box with tubes coming out of it anyway.
^^Huh? You're saying it sucks so CP should get one? I'm kind of confused by what you mean.
I'm still laughing over Jugga's "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" reference!
Edited for proper number of carrots.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Way to jam an amazing amount of wrongness into one short post. First of all, Cedar Point does not break records with coasters every year; they don't build coasters every year, and on the years they do, they're not all Guinness candidates.
Second, Gemini is a steel coaster. Only the support structure is wood -- the track is tube steel.
Wildcat is actually a fairly gentle coaster, so long as you know to brace yourself appropriately for the brakes before the lift and flying into the station.
And if you wanted to build something in its place that didn't break down that much, a Topple Tower wouldn't exactly top the list.

Where else do you want the cars to stop on WildCat? There are multiple blocks on the course, it's doing what it was designed to do. Plus, WildCat is a great ride. It has always been one of my favorites, but the low capacity makes the line stretch out quite a bit on most days.

Yeah, I really love Monty Python. BTW, do you recognize my avatar? It's from a Monty Python sketch.
