Scary Moments....

They are made to pop up a notch to secure themselves at the next level, I believe.
Mantis does that. Happens to all of us, if you ride it enough.
I was sitting at controls on WildCat, there was a light mist, but we were still running...starts raining...I call 'dispatch' and tell them to stop sending cars so we could go down for rain. They send the last loaded car...as it gets to the base of the lift, I see this bright flash, and I get thrown against the canvas sun shade behind me. After a few seconds I realise what just happened...the top of our lift got hit by lightning!!

Wildcat FLASHED you!!!

:) seriously though...keep them coming!!!

***says Matt who knows that no experience can come close to his on MF******
So, basically, you got hit by lighting? What happened to the riders?
My scariest moment was when I thought I wouldn't be able to get a last ride on Magnum :)

No offense to Wildcat crewmembers or the coaster (hey, I love it!), but with all the things to hit in that park... Wildcat? *Grin*

The scariest moment for me didn't happen to me, it was what I saw. I was waiting to board the Gemini, when I heard the ride opp yell. I quickley turned to my right to see the blue train stop suddenly. Then I noticed some guy with half of his body over the track. If they weren't watching every movement near the track this guy would have been killed. The ride opp was yelling over the PA at this idiot for about a half minute.

Lazer Loop: Kennywood Park-- (this is a ride similar to superman at sfwoa, shoots ya up in the air). This ride was replaced by SP, anyhoo! I was tweleve or so and buckling myself in, ready to go! The ride Op yells over to the other ride op across the tracks just as we take off "ITS GOING TOO FAST!" I am sure I will be shot out into the parking lot and to my death and as we clear the loop and shoot up the end,,, I yell for mercyful god to save me, other passangers think I am weird,,, but my dad also heard the ride op and had a tight hold of my hand! (he was rather worried himself thinking my poor mother would be widowed and childless, but probably very rich!) We later realized that the ride Op was talking about the recorded speil used on the ride. Heh heh,,,, Pritty scary. I never rode again.

I'd say it was last year, I was in line for Snake River Falls, well my sister who is 10 and in the line with me had brought her MUCH more adventerous (and by that I mean willing to ride a lot more stuff) friend of the same age, well I met this kid in the line and we had the luck of being the odd number in line and got front row. Well there goes my sister who freaked out and left while me, her friend, and this other kid got on the ride, now I started getting scared because my sister's friend is as skinny as a twig and when we pulled the lap bar down it hit me and the kid but she had this huge gap. I asked one of the ride ops if she would be alright and they said she'd be fine. I swear when we went down that drop, I was holding onto her for HER dear life!

Back in the early 80's, long before the changes to the Blue Streak trains - I was riding the Blue Streak with my little brother who was just tall enough to ride. We managed to get a seat where we couldn't get the seat belt fastened for some reason. I remember him floating so high that his butt almost cleared the back of the car - I had to grab him to keep him on the ride. Of course, he had a fabulous ride, but my other brother (who was sitting in the seat behind us) and I were completely freaked out.
I also had a scary moment on the Blue Streek, pre lapbar changes. My Dad and myself are sitting in the back seat. As the train starts rolling out of the station, a maintenance guy runs up to our car and starts looking at the wheels. He follows the train as it rolls of the station, continuing to inspect the car. I’m sure nothing serious was wrong with the train, but for a little kid it was pretty scary.

it was dark, and it started to sprinkle a little. We got on the ride, and on the way up, the wind started to pick up and the rain started coming down hard! There we were 240 ft up feeling every sway of the tower and getting soaked! It was one of the best rides I ever had on that!!! Excitement and fear...a match made in heaven!

Being stuck on the Mine Ride hill for a couple of minutes! Now that was scary!!!!
