I used that technique too Rideman, but my friends and I don't have problems accomplishing it, because we really aren't that tall. That must stink to not be able to ride Mantis.
I have no clue how many times I have ridden Mantis I would guess in the ball park of around 250 laps since '96, I have to say that atleast 40% of the time the harness has released a notch or two, it normally happens in one of two places, A. on the lift, and B. in the turn after the lift before the drop. I feel completly safe on Mantis, its no big deal at all.
The only reason I think they added the belts was becuase the restraints pop up a notch or two often enough that too many guests went to park op and complained so adding the belts was more of a no brainer.

Why doesn't CP just fix the restraints popping open a notch or two problem. This would be the best time to do it-the offseason when the trains get overhauled anyway. Just seems like a better idea than adding seat belts and forgetting the problem.

Trim brakes-a necessity???
Fixing the popping up of the restraints in any other way would have cost more than a seat belt... Not saying CP was really cheap, but the popping up isn't really a danger since they don't pop up all the way, so seat belts are a quick fix to make park guests feel safe.
I rode BKF in the front seat and the ride op stapled the harness to me and wouldn't you know, soon as I took a breath at the crest, it popped open. I was like "uh oh" and quickly pulled it back to where I had it in the front seat. I know the sensation of the front is supposed to be like sitting on an open seat, but that's taking it too far.
The same thing has happened to me on Raptor.

On Raptor, that would be really freaky!
Except, I don't know which I would want better, falling to my death or possibly living, or being hideously dismembered, lasurated, and crushed, by getting run over by a train....hmmmm....tough decison. :)
what havent you had happen to you on raptor hooper?lol

I think it would be cool to be on a rollback, until a train collides with you from behind!:(

A couple of times on Raptor this year, we accidentally sent a train with a spray bottle on it. We constantly clean those trains and sometimes we don't notice who has the bottle. Both times, the bottle stayed on the ride the entire way through. I would feel pretty safe even if the restraints popped up a notch or two!

BSU FOOTBALL ROCKS!
Iti sn't RCT lol, trains don't collide when they roll back. That's what blocks and safety systems are for.

That's why they created anti-rollbacks!

A rollback-collision is 99.9999% impossible. The only way it could happen is if a train rolled back all the way to the last safety block where another train was stopped.
