scared?

okay. I've seen all of you people say how Top Thrill Dragster is the greatest 17 seconds of your life, but I'm looking at this thing, and I'm just about peeing my pants when thinking of riding this monster. So I opened this topic so people can talk about just how scared you were (if any) and if you weren't scared explain why.

"Yellow,Yellow,Yellow,Green" AHHH

okay, now i just want to hear about your expiriences beforehand.
I wasn't really that scared at all on my first ride but the rides after that I got sorta nervous. The only real scary part of the ride is the anticipation before the launch.
I just remember and tell my kids (which now they are fearless) that if it was going to hurt you, it wouldn't be here. The cheers from the crowd and expressions of the riders take the fear out of you and replace it with anticipation and excitement!! Especially on TTD.
If there's any fear at all, it's drowned out by the excitement of the ride. Besides, riding TTD is much safer than the drive you took to get to the park.

CP 2K3: 11

Well i knew i was going to be safe, and that not only would i be safe i could ride it a billion times and nothing would happen to me, but i was still scarred. When we unloaded i was like, oh ok, i am such a wuss lol it wasn't scary at all. this ride is only scary from the ground, it is very intense and even more fun. I finally got another lap this past weekend and hopefully i will have my 4th tomorrow yay! I am with ya johnz it is a very intimidating ride.

I first got scared when the gates for early entrance opened and we ran to TTD. We were coming from the Magnum Entrance, and being right underneath the tower and seeing how huge it really was freaked me out for the first time.

When we were actually on the ride, and sitting in the first row, that was a little scary too. It got me right as we were about to launch, and the train backed up just a little, as though bracing itself for the sudden burst of acceleration.

i want to ride it first, so the magnum entrance is the best one correct?
Only way to conquer your fears is to face your fears. There will be fear for just about any high and/or fast coaster you ride, but it will give way to excitement shortly thereafter.

my friend is going on it with me and he wants to shut his eyes because he's scared. what should i tell him.

Tell him that it is scarrier if you close your eyes because you wont know its coming, unless you are clever enough to listen for the brakes dropping that is. Seriously, tell him to keep his eyes open, I was going to close my eyes the first time too, but didn't and am very glad I kept them open.

The only scary part of the ride is when you first wheel out of the station. The aniticipation is scary on your first ride. After your first ride it isnt scary at all. If you are scared of the heights, when you are up there you dont really have any time to look around and you are so distorted from the launch, it really wouldnt make a diffrence.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Are your ready for some speed? We've got 120 miles per hour! Are you ready to get vertical? We've got 420 feet. Are you ready for the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world?! ARE YOU READY FOR TOP THRILL DRAGSTER?!?
Scary? No. An unbelievably awesome ride? YES!!! Can't wait to get back to CP in August and ride it again!

I was more nervous to ride this coaster than any other. In fact I almost stepped through and got off. My heart was beating pretty fast. But once they STAPLED me in, I calmed right down and got ready. All you can say is WOW. That was my first of three launches. Wasn't nervous at all on the next two.

Looking forward to trying to get back up north from Texas to ride it again.

I am not scared at all because I watched them build this, I know all of the testing and safety that goes into these things. You dont screw around with $25 million and the GP.
well, i know i wont get injured or anything, but it still is a little scary. you couldn't have walked on this like you were going on jr. gemini.
The scariest part for me was finally sitting in the train after a 3 hour wait(my second ride on it) and having the thing break down. We got out, we got back in and got stapled again, we got out again, etc. We did get our launch but the thought of that long wait with all the stapling and none of the thrill of the ride was terrifying! :)

Obviously, everyone's response is going to be different. After all, I know people who ride Blue Streak and think it's intense.

For myself, I wasn't scared whatsoever-- but that's just me. The ride is absolutely exhilerating (no kidding!) and I think anyone interested really should just make themselves do it. I guarantee the thrill will leave you with NO regrets. This ride is FUN!
