Saw a vehicle today run right through the parking booth without paying...

As entering the park today around 10 AM with about a million other cars entering at the same time we noticed one vehicle did not want to pay parking. It was his turn at the toll booth and just drove right through. The attendant literally tried chasing him down, but obviously couldn't get to him. She called security. Hopefully they caught him. He probably got kicked out if they ended up catching him.

Cool

"But I paid $15 for parking yesterday!"

When I worked at the toll booths at a WDW park years ago it was a daily occurance. We were told to do nothing - it wasn't worth our safety to run after them and management and security didn't want the confrontation.

Considering there isn't a gate arm like at the airport its pretty easy to make it in without paying at most parks. There really wouldn't be much Security could do if they did find the car in the parking lot because the driver would probably have been long gone by the time they found the car, provided they got a plate number because a description would not have been good enough.

Parking was 18 actually yesterday. I think that may only be on Saturday's though.

If the CPPD were able to catch the vehicle, but the driver was already in the park, couldn't they issue a ticket, have the vehicle towed, or immobilized with one of those wheel jams? But I know that's probably not worth their time for a rare occurrence, however they still committed theft.

I doubt they would go that far just for the $15 bucks. Not to mention the driver could have honestly not understood that he needed to stop. I know, I know....but I have seen the general public do some pretty stupid things because they honestly didn't understand. He could have watched a few cars in front of him get waved through without stopping so he just followed along. I have seen that happen plenty of times in the past when employees drive through. Heck, this could have been an employee and the Toll Attendant may not have seen that. Plus unless its changed recently, there technically isn't a sign that says "Stop Here: Pay Toll". I'm not sticking up for this guy at all, just looking at it from all angles.

Disney never did. The attitude was the loss of revenue was meaningless and it wasn't worth putting hourly workers in harms way by attempting to "chase after" folks. If security happened to be in the area and caught it, they would usually go check it out. Nine times out of ten it was an entitled passholder who felt they didn't need to stop and show their pass at the booth and would cause a scene. The tenth time it was a dumb tourist who just wasn't paying attention. Folks who try and get out of paying don't generally run the booth, they stop and craft elaborate stories.

I can understand there being people that made an honest mistake.

However, allowing this to happen even if it's rare, fosters an atmosphere amongst those that will do it that's it's okay. And they will tell their friends how it works.

These are the same people that will line jump,
If they won't take 30 seconds to pay a toll, waiting in line for 3 hours is going to be way beneath them.

Enjoy passivity in the guise of safety, not sure how calling in someone's plate to parking security is a safety issue, it will lead to more security and confrontations inside the park.

And this is why there are/were entire websites devoted to how to cheat the system at Disney. Disney is the biggest offender of allowing (and encouraging) bad guest behavior, and that is the main reason why people verbally abuse the hourly workers there. It will usually lead to free stuff.

Not much different from the guests that feel entitled at CP, or anywhere else in the game of life for that matter. There's always going to be some bad apples.

I know. That's what the "joke" was. Apparently it's not funny 😑

Ok, the park doesn't get 18 bucks and a Kinzel Causeway toll. They still got the price of at least one admission ticket minimum at full price considering it doesn't seem like this person planned online and ahead. So the park still made money, easily.

I'm sure security did look into it, that's their job, but they're not going to devote crazy man hours to hunt down one man who didn't pay parking. They're going to be looking for alot more illegal & profit reducing things (photocopied cash, etc.)

Every Major Retailer prosecutes shoplifting, even for the lowest ticket items.

Its not because, oh geez, we lost out on $.78 lipgloss, it's because if they did nothing it gets worse. Then they immediately ban those persons from ALL of there stores, they do not use the 'illogic' that its okay to make money off them elsewhere in the company.

Not paying the toll is simple theft of service. These people are not likely to be big contributors in sales at all, if any. The will use up other resources and employee time costing the company money.

And there are other customers that have to deal and put up with miscreants like this.

I was just about to say, your "we didn't really care about toll runners" thing was going to be on a tips website by tomorrow evening.

Like I said, they will pursue it.

However in the grand scheme of things, they will still be pulling money from him somewhere. It's not like that parking lot gets him free access to the park.

Also, who knows, maybe he was trying to get access to the marina, Famous Daves, or the Chausee..

Speaking of Chaussee. It reminded me to just take a look and see what's selling up there. Needless to say, I live pretty comfortably and def make more than most my age group at this point in my career. However, this makes me feel very very inadequate lol.

First, I want a home on the Chausee with a CP view!

Second, if one were to just go to Famous Dave's or Bay Harbor for dinner, would they have to pay the $15-$18 parking fee?

ROUNDABOUND.

They pay and then the restaurant refunds them.

Maybe someone in that car really had to go potty! ;)
