It's been a tough season for many reasons, but we managed to get out to the park yesterday for a few hours. It ended up being the best trip of the year.

There were two highlights in a day full of bright spots. The first was Cam's first roller coaster, Jr. Gemini. After tackling some new rides in Camp Snoopy, the 42" kid turned the corner on the midway. He was distracted by Space Age and rode that first. But after he got off, he pointed to Jr. Gemini and said, "I want to ride that one." Who am I to argue with a 3-year-old?

The second was the sentimental highlight (as if the day wasn't full of sentimental moments). Cam and I took a ride on White Water Landing. He had a blast. I have so many fun memories of that ride and it was an honor to share that last ride (and his first) with my son. Who knows - maybe we'll get another chance to ride before the end.

With six new rides yesterday, Cam is now up to 29 different rides at Cedar Point. By my count, there are 14 more that he could get on at his present height. Later in the day, he declared that he wanted to ride maXair and Power Tower as we walked past each. All in good time. We have a lifetime of memories ahead.

I was also at Cedar Point and Man it was Busy. Besides it being busy what about all the rides that kept breaking down? The rides that went down while I was waiting in line were, Power Tower, Demon Drop (Twice), Chaos, Wicked Twister, and also Demon Drop breaking down while on it. Thats was awesome in a way.

Nice Post walt I thought I saw you, but I could have been wrong.

Your kid, Cam, is pretty cool. When I was 3 years old I wish my dad took me to CP and stuff like you did. Must have been a great time. Oh yeah I don't like Michigan, I like Ohio State, but how about that game yesterday?

I'd feel better about that game if I could figure out how Lloyd Carr conned the ref into taking the clock from 0:28 to 0:30. Or if I could figure out why they thought there was "air" under Jason Avant's heel.

Doesn't matter. It was Cam's day.

Thanks.

Kind of cliche, but your son seems to look a lot like you. :)

I hear that a lot.

Figured that...

Anyway, great update. Those construction pics are quite interesting... especially the new "12-E". ;)

Looks like you and Cam had an awesome day. I can't wait to have kids of my own to being to the Point so they can carry on the Zongaro (my last name) - Cedar Point love affair.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I don't mind taking others' kids on rides, I just don't ever want to have my own to take ;)

I'm sure it was a big change from that scorching hot day in June.

I do wish my parents had a picture of my first ride on a Coaster (Jr. Gemini)

My first coaster was Jr. Gemini too. My first big one was Raptor.

I was there yesterday too.

VERY BUSY. I was there from about 1 to 9, and I only got to ride 5 rides.

And I remember seeing a kid that looked like Cameron in line for tilt-a-whirl, but I think he was older, ha.

2007 hear I come...

Very busy, not only was the overflow parking full, but they were even parking cars in that small space on either side of the road right after the toll booths!

My first reaction to the removal of White Water Landing was absolute glee. It's not one of my favourite rides, and its removal could pave the way to yet another amazing roller coaster...

...but then I thought about my son, Ben. Ben's just turning two, and still to short for everything in the park. I remember how much I LOVED White Water Landing when I first went to Cedar Point (I was 8), and it makes me a bit sad to realise that I won't get to share that ride with Ben.

Overall, I'm sure Cedar Point has made the right decision. It's just sad to see any ride disappear; so many memories for so many people...

Thanks for sharing your day Walt; I'm so looking forward to sharing Ben's firsts in the years to come!

Cam is getting BIG! Wow, time marches on...

Thanks for posting those pics, Walt. I always love seeing kids having fun at CP!

Yeah, I suspect that not many kids his age are 42" tall.

Walt, great pictures!

My boy just turned 3 and I can't wait to get him back to the point (hopefully next year). We'll probably get to Disney before then. He'd prefer to ride Dragster but I'll get him onto Woodstock's and Jr. Gemini for sure.

It is just the greatest age, isn't it?

Man he's growing up quick. Wasn't it just earlier this season that he was afraid of everything? Glad to see he's starting to explore more (and having fun doing it too.)

Goodbye MrScott
