Saturday 14th...INSANE

Just imagine a full main parking lot, cars parked in the grass everywhere you looked. A full que for ID. The long entrance was used for Magnum. According to the sign a 1 hour wait for gemini. I think you get the point. My rides consisted a Magnum, and 2 corkscrews. Everyone stay away Tomorrow.

Oh yeah MF...the extras ques full, and a line to red garters on the trail. I would guess that to be around 3 hours. Memories of opening day kept flashing to me and July, and August days.

Oh, but that's only part of the picture...

How about a nearly total melt-down in the food service realm? Hofbrau line to the midway. You could scarcely get down the midway due to the line in front of the CP French Fries beneath Raptor. And in front of the Corral food stand by Cedar Downs, the Midway was almost ENTIRELY blocked by the Corral line...literally a single-file line going down the midway and a single-file line trying to get out!

Terrific weather, that "one last time to CP" mentality...all things that made for a huge crowd. Poor staffing and volunteer groups working the food stands were most likely the cause of the unbelievable lines at food stands. Is this CP's fault? No, I'm certain they would have loved full staffing.

It was crowded, people were hungry, and it was getting real ugly.

We were there for only one hour. Before the parking lot turned into mayhem, we bugged out, having ridden nothing. We're crazy, but not stupid.

I hope today is better and less crowded.

I got there around 12:30 for some photography. The main parking lot was only half full. I parked in back and went in. I was in the park until about 2:30 and really didn't think the crowds were that bad. Before I left, I drove back to Sandcastle for some Magnum photos. I was thinking to myself how quiet and peaceful it was back there. That didn't last long. As I drove past the Blue Streak, the mess was just amazing. One of those impatient terror .... er ... tourists almost hit me. I know I was getting out just in time :)

Yeah.. it was insane.. I got a Mantis, a Gemini (only half hour) and the last Raptor train of the night (Thanks Jo and Wiredog).

Rest of my day was spent in Red Garter acting as a messenger between the bar and the kitchen as they went through keg after keg, and runnign with Rich to other places, trading napkins for a case of chips, or whatever they needed for what we needed and had.

Also spent 2 1/2 hours organizing food tickets so that the crew wouldn't be there until 5am. Can't tell you how many people came up to me asking for a straw or cup of water thinking I worked there.

Looking for me?? Take a guess where you'll find me...
I got to the park at 6 and it took another 30 mins. to get a parking spot. We went to Raptor, the wait was an hour and 30mins. Then we went to MF wait was 3 hours!!!! Then we went to Magnum and waited for 1 hour and 15 mins. The wait was worth it especially at night. Then we went to Space Spiral and the wait was 15 mins. Then we left.
I saved my last MF ride until Midnight but the line was still over 2 hours long! My aching feet told me to wait until tomorrow. Got in line at 11:40am; it was a 40 minute wait. Waited 1 1/4 hours for both Mean Streak and Raptor on Saturday. One of the CP workers at the rear entrance said there were 45,000 people thru the gates on Saturday. Does that sound right? Definitely the busiest I've seen in many years. I'm glad I did most of my riding on Friday night.
Hooper, I didn't notice it being that busy on Saturday, are you smoking crack or something?

So, where is the Magnum entrance?

I agree, Saturday WAS insane. I can't remember the last time I've seen Cedar Point that crowded. I got there around 4, rode 3 rides (Magnum, Gemini, and MF), and headed home. Took a half hour to get OUT of the parking lot...

This was one of those days where "if you see a line on ride A, find the short line for ride B..." did NOT apply.

Racewife,

You were certainly made a good decision on leaving MF till the next morning. My friends and I entered the line at 10:45...The sign said 2 hours, but the Ops were telling riders the line is two and a half. The line moved well, until 2 minutes till midnight, when MF was down due to mechanical reasons. My friends wanted to wait it out and MF eventually reopened at 12:30 to a screaming queue area! An hour later we eneded our season, the same way we began our season in May - A backseat ride on the blue train on MF!

As for the lines (times we waited):

Raptor 15 Minutes (11:00 Am)
MF 60 Minutes (11:30 AM)
Disaster Transport 30 Minutes (2:00 PM)
Magnum XL-200 1 hour 30 Minutes (3:00 PM)
Corn Dog Line (Frontier Town) 1 Hour
Chaos 30 Minutes
Gemini 1 Hour
Mantis 45 Minutes (10:00 PM)

Other Lines Around the Park Times:

Power Tower 2 hrs (Ride OPs said it may be longer due to one tower down for the day)

Mean Streak 1 hour and a half:
Talked to the ride op working the entrance she commented on the fact MS was running well for a change today, I did not believe her and left. Now I am wondering if it was running well, any comments?

Had a great season and sad to say it is over, and why yes it was unreal crowd on Sat.!

Best Wishes,
Chris

Never mind the crowds
you guys should have seen the mess those crowds left for us to clean up on Raptors queues! (Rob & Wiredog will vouch for this)
We had all queues open
and they TRASHED every single one of them--
no lie I had blisters on my fingers from sweeping.
(and I thought doing controls was hard!!) =)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
i took a first timer to the point for the weekend, and got there after 8 and maily just told her to hope for rain in the morning, and got in a raptor, corkscrew, and magnum, and headed down to find a hotel room instead of riding mf,but i almost regreted it after seeing the flood lights on the turnaround were off,but it was a good choice, got the last room theyhad at the first hotel i went to.
and im sure that people will go into great details on how nice sunday was,i ended up on 2nd to the last full public mf train near the back, and the back turn around was still dark anyway
Meanstreak69,

MS was running well on Saturday. No delays; pretty smooth for MS. I took some first-timers on it and thought for certain they would find it too rough. They loved it! Too bad we didn't get another ride in.

Two out of the three rides I got in on MF over the weekend were in the very front of the red and yellow trains. My first-timer friends got the very rear of the blue train on their first ride. What luck! Any seat on MF, however, is my favorite seat.

I actually did a few things I've never done at CP before because it was so busy on Saturday: bumper cars, rock climbing, log ride, and haunted houses. Usually it's nothing but coasters for me.

Kind of bummed I only got one ride in on Magnum this trip. Oh well, there's always next year.

Enjoy the off-season!

Racewife

Very very Long lines at 1 point it was 1hour and 35 minutes for raptor,Some of the employees for the space spiral said they were having problems parking people cause there was no room
