Given the latest weather channel forcast, 26' waves are predicted for the southern coast of Lake Erie. Has any storm ever taken a path like this into Cedar Point that has been recorded? What types of prevantative measures can they take being so vulnerable on the penninsula? This looks pretty serious.

I wouldn't want to walk on the beach, and the drive up the Chausee will probably be entertaining, but I don't expect any major issues. Although it's unprecedented for a late October hurricane to be the cause for this weather, these severe conditions have been experienced on the peninsula many times before from bad winter storms.
There was sand in the parking lot yesterday almost to the bay side of the lot. There was plenty of sand blown into the restrooms next to space spiral. The construction workers will have some tough conditions the next few days if they even work. They will need googles with all of that blowing sand. I got blasted with sand just leaving the restroom. The waves were as high as I've ever seen them yesterday.

I'm not sure what good search engines would do them. Perhaps it would help them locate a store to buy some goggles. :-)

I stayed away from the park yesterday (was at the Browns game). But I did get reports that if one rode Troika one was getting pelted with sand from the beach. Obviously, a new sensation for that ride!
I come from Mentor and driving on I-90 yesterday, heading towards Cleveland, some of the waves were crashing onto the freeway.
I just checked the web cams! It is crazy to see how the lake looks like it is rising!

With these strong winds coming out of the north, the level of the lake on the Southern side would definitely be measurably higher.

I just drove along the north shore of Lake Erie and didn't see many waves on this side. The wind sure is blowing out there though!
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Being a Youngstown-er, this really saddens me...

Yeah I saw that. The Walentas' must be beside themselves. Definitely not a good thing. It's ironic that the last of the Coney Island carousels is currently in Ohio being restored.
Saw a pic of Jane's carousel this morning, looks like there was some water that got into the building but it appears not to be as bad as anticipated. However the two antique machines at the Jersey Shore may be lost.
It so sad to see all the destruction. I just saw pics of a rollercoaster in New Jersey that was sweeped into the ocean. Sad to see. I am happy it wasn't one of ours here at Cedar Point!

Hey I have been thinking....we here were lucky that Sandy did not take out our amusement park, but I know that there are others that did get taken out...After seeing the pics of the roller coaster from Funtown Pier in New Jersey being swallowed up with Sandy made me think that why dont we find a way to help rebuild thier park! If anyone would like to help please private message me to see what we can do to help!!!
