Sandusky Hotels

I'm planning a trip with my cousin to Cedar Point and the Cleveland area. We would like to stay in the CP area, checking in on the 25th of May and checking out on the 30th. Most of the hotel reviews are pretty bad for pretty much all the hotels in the area. I don't have high standards, especially since we're looking to pay in the $60-$70 range per night, but we want somewhere with clean beds and a clean bathroom.

Comfort Inn has the right price, but bad reviews.

Days Inn has the right price, but bad reviews.

Knights Inn has the right price but bad reviews.

If we go a little further away from Cedar Point, there is a Motel 6 and a Super 8 with decent reviews and they'll save us at least $100 for the entire stay

Any advice from Sandusky hotel veterans would be great.

For Halloweekends I went to Cedar Point with my cousin. We ended up staying at the Knights Inn, It wasn't too bad of a hotel the room was clean and so was the bathroom. The only thing I couldn't really stand was the train going right by the place every hour or so throught the night. Otherwise it isn't to bad. I'm not sure about the Comfort Inn or Days Inn but I'm pretty sure some others have stayed there. If you check the "Trip Reports" Section some people may have noted how a hotel was if they stayed there.

The Motel 6 in Milan is good. Clean and cheap.

I had a nice stay at the Hampton Inn, though it may be a little more than you want to pay.

The plus of staying at a Hampton is that you also get free breakfast every morning.

The Comfort Suites across the street from the Hampton is very nice as well and also has a very good free breakfast.

Super 8 in Sandusky is where I've stayed a few times. Free breakfast and clean rooms and the right price. Plus it's not too far from the park and very close to everything in town. I'd recommend it 100%.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

If your not staying at cedar point resorts, i would choose the hampton

inn. About three years ago, i stayed a short stay at the super eight. I

will never stay there again. My car is cleaner. If you want more details,

send me a message.

Does the super 8 cause horrible grammar, spelling, and capitalization? I'm just wondering where it came from.

You do not have to tell people they do not have a control of English grammar everytime you see some errors.

He entered some crappy English, but made a point that will suffice.

Get a life.

So, we should continue to allow someone to violate the TOS of these forums, because they point they may or may not be making "will suffice"?

Hmmmm... Interesting concept.

If you stay at a place by trains, wear ear plugs.

I always stay at Maples Motel on Cleveland Rd. Then take the chaussee (sp?) to the park. Yes there are trains, but when I wear ear plugs, I don't hear them at all. Plus, if it is warm enough for you, they do have a pool that is 8ft deep at one end. Joan has donuts and coffee in the morning, but VERY reasonable rates.

I like looking on hotels.com at the descriptions and reviews because it offer more of a guest opinion then the generic statement on the hotel's site. Although some of those reviews are exactly opposite from one another. I also like using AAA recomenbed hotels. My friend stayed at the Hampton across the street from the McDonalds and thought it was a great place.

^^How then, do you wake up? Alarms work by making noise, if you wear ear plugs then you block that noise.

Nah, ear plugs don't block out that much noise, plus the alarm is close enough that you can still hear it, and it'll annoy the crap out of you until you get up.

^Not in my experience, Ive tried it, and I dont wake up to an alarm with ear plugs on. Of course Im also the guy who slept through a fire alarm once in college (no I was not under the influence of any substance at the time) so Im probably a deeper then average sleeper.

Ever since I became addicted to the Point in 2007, I've stayed at the Econo Lodge on Cleveland Rd right by Cedar Point Dr (across the street from the Thirsty Pony). George maintains rooms that are very basic on amenities but have always been clean the past 10 or so times I've stayed there. Plus, the price is very reasonable for its location to the Point. Breakfast is on the light side (English muffins, mini donuts, coffee, OJ) but enough to start the day. The trains can still be a factor though but I've been able to sleep through most of them.

Oh, the irony.

As far as the alarm thing, TD - I've slept through stuff before, so I guess if they're that tired, the trains won't be much of a bother. :-D
