How long has it been since this Drive-In on Rt. 6 near the park
closed up? It always strikes my curiousity everytime driving by
the place.

Yeah it is. One of my friends posted the Sun Microsystems building last week and I got busy looking at the rest of the site, and found that.
It has some neat stuff on there. He has the Toledo Sports area listed as in Toronto though.
That wasnt abandoned for long. In fact, it was more or less never abandoned. And last time i seen the place it was a pile or dirt/rubble/etc etc.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
That is a cool website, I was checking out the Kentucky section, and the pictures from Waverly Hills Sanatorium. There is all kinds of light orbs in the pictures. He has some really good shots, its a spooky place to check out if you ever come through Louisville.
That site also says that a worker went on a rampage at the old Jeep plant and shot two people in the head. That happened at the new Jeep plant, while the old one was still being torn down...
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
So when did it close for business? I remember going to a movie there during the 1982 season with fellow crew members on the CP & LE Railroad.

It was fairly recently, in the last couple of years. I remember seeing some movie title on the sign one summer and thinking, "I'd never see that at a crappy old drive-in because of the sound."

If I had to guess, it was around 2001. It sat empty and for sale for a few years before it was demolished in November. I believe the site is going to be a park.
Edit: Found a couple of stories ...

The guy mentioned in the first story, Tim Bretz, was a long-time poster here. Maybe if he's still lurking, he can fill us in with the details.
I didn't realize that's what Tim did, or that he was that much older than me. I guess I don't pay close enough attention.
