safety of dragster? are you concerned?

Lets look at TTD's safety record from 2003-2005:

Number of riders - 2,459,696
Injuries - 4
Deaths - 0

Thats a 1 in 614,925 chance of getting injured and that does not include 2006 numbers.

Lets break it down more -
Ride length in feet - 2800 feet
* 614,625 - 1,721,787,200 feet
/ 5,280 feet in a mile - 326,096 miles

2004 Miles - 2,923,900,000,000
2000 Injuries - 3,189,000
2000 Deaths - 41,821

Miles to injury: 916,870
Miles to death: 69,914,636

So in conclusion traveling on TTD you are 2.8 times as likely to get injured as traveling the same distance in your car. You decide if its worth it.

I don't know if anyones mentioned this yet but they made me put my cell phone in my pocket that buttons up before I even got in the line. This was on the 14th or 16th of August. I would have to say they are very cautious of things falling out of your pockets.

Yes, they are being very precautious. The smallest things must be secured in a buttoned pocket or securable pouch.

Oh and Steve, I cant really tell, but are you discouraging about riding Dragster??

WTF kinda injuries happened on Dragster? The things I heard is that people were talking about a cell phone hitting someone's arm on the launch and awhile back on the radio they were giving tickets aay and said shards of metal hit people or sumthin.

Yeah a few riders got hit with metal shards from the cable back in 2004. They were minor injuries, little cuts and a few bruises. They tried to file a suit against CP but I think they lost (or at least that's what I immediately thought when I first heard they were filing a suit over it:)).

If I got hit by a shard of metal I would simply ask for the piece of the cable to take home as a souvneir lol. Who would sue their favorite park?!?

Apparently those people.:)

Well, perhaps it wasn't their favorite park... ;)

But really, I thought that whole case was blown out or proportion. If you get the medical attention, and believe there is reason to sue, go for it... But, if you're going to reject medical attention, don't turn around and try sue for your supposid "pain and suffering."

If there was a safety issue do you think that Cedar Point would run Top Thrill Dragster or any other ride for that matter. Intamin would not allow rides to run if there was a safety issues. Yes we all know that anything can happen at anytime but I will trust that Cedar Point does all they can to assure safety on all rides including Top Thrill Dragster. Lets take a look at what happened last year with Kingda Ka Cedar Point had already made the changes to prevent this from happening. Safety is a number 1 at the park.

2007-2008 Dueling Dragons TL
2008- present Sea World Orlando Shamu Lead Area 2

Dragster was down one time this summer for 6 hours because a Cell Phone was stuck in a part of the launch. Hard to describe/explain, but it did happen and was down for that reason.
