Sabotage

So, I get home from tennis, and I'm bored, so I figure I would visit my favorite, unofficial, Cedar Point website. I type in pointbuzz.com, and let the page load up. I look to see if there was any new news, and that's when I saw it. To the right of the latest news was a giant ad for Six Flags amusement parks. Honestly, I could care less, but I was wondering how ads were rented out on this site. Is it by third party companies, or direct? Just curious.

^I saw that too. I was like" why would they advertise six flags on a CedarPoint fansite, what a waste of money."

Ads are ads. I doubt Jeff cares to much as to where they come from as long as the money is coming in. As for Six Flags knowing where their ads are being placed, I doubt they know its on here. Its probably advertised by another company outside of Six Flags.

And here I thought this was a thread about a Beastie Boys song:)

I believe he said the other day that he has no control over the ads.

I figured that. Just pointing out the coincidental, or purposeful, presence of a rival park(s).

I was kind of waiting for someone to start this topic. When I first saw the SF ads on here I just had to lol.

RIDE ON, and ON and ON and ON and ON and ON...

Well, the addition of SF to Pointbuzz doesn't seem to be affecting anything.
--Uptime is around 99% (there always seems to be a down spot in mid afternoon).
--When you go to a gallery, more than one thumbnail is working.
--Walt and Jeff are pretty friendly.
--And its only 12 bucks for a season pass.

Nope, SF isn't hurting anything yet.

Really, what's the big deal? This is exactly the demographic that an amusement or theme park chain would want to target. Cedar Point isn't the only amusement park in the world and many people here visit other parks.

The Six Flags vs. Cedar Point issue has come up in other threads. I really think some people have the idea that Six Flags is evil or is "the enemy." That's ridiculous.

It is a BIG Deal this is a CEDAR POINT FAN site, its like Ford sponsoring a Monte Carlo Car Club... its not only stupid but a very big waste of money and whoever allowed it, is truley not a CP fan. down with the six flags ads!

To all that are complaining about the Six Flags Advertisement...If you don't like it I offer you this simple solution:

https://www.popw.com/pointbuzz/

There...Now order the Preminum Membership and you won't have to deal with it.....Anyway maybe its just me...But I don't really pay that close attention to the ads...I spend most of my energy reading the posts!

Actually, Walt and Jeff don't have much control over the ads. They sell the space to an ad "agency" which in turn puts an ad there. Since this is an amusement park site, some of the ads are going to be from amusement parks.

We can opt out of individual campaigns. Yeah, maybe it seems a little odd or funny, but as I mentioned above, I don't see the problem.

That's easy for you to say, Walt. I mean, obviously you're not a true Cedar Point fan! ;)

Dare I say this is the most ridiculous thing I've read on here and a long time. This "fan site" costs a lot of time and money. If Six Flags wants to give us money, so be it.

Maybe you didnt read my point of view I understand it cost money... everything does... but Why six flags? Their are so many Sponsors out their, maybe you should get Cedar Point to Sponsor.

If Six Flags would like to waste their money on this site that's fine. It's not like we are all going to jump up and go there. I mean everyone on this site is more dedicated to Cedar Point otherwise we wouldn't waste our time with everything here.

That makes sense doesn't it? besides like someone else said, Six Flag is giving this site money. That's kind of humourous that they are feeding into a rival amusement park site. So let's about this, who's the smarter one??

CS-2005
Does anyone know how to fix the hole in the bucket?

I have to agree with Jeff and Walt, sites like this one cost lots of money, so I may be a big Cedar Point fan, But I do go to other parks, because I'm a bigger roller coaster fan.

until pointbuzz can run ENTIRELY off of USERS DONATIONS, i see BASIS at ALL for you to complain.

Its revenue to run the site. If you guys donate enough, the ads would be pulled! But I don't see you doing that, so you really have no right.

Why would Cedar Point buy advertising on this site? To entice you to go there?

Being "dedicated" to Cedar Point doesn't mean forsaking all other theme parks.
