Rumor... true or not?

Well here is good news from my good friend the maintenence man Richard. The ride might be open tuesday afternoon/night but wednesday is the best bet. Also Good news the Spoilers, engines, and wheels will be on later in the summer. This was from a very reliable source he is actually working on the ride. and yes it is a hydrolic(sp) valve that needs replacement.

The Cleveland PD had a small report on the status today. They actually say the part arrived on Friday. So now it is waiting game for it to be installed.

we can only hope the reliability of this ride gets better and better
I just got done watching the news today and i heard that the mechanics here couldn't fix the ride so they called in sombody from switzerland that built the ride to come help them fix it. Thats all I heard. Hope it gtes fixed by this weekend or this week.

It is understandable. If you want to break records, there are chances you take. Prototypes are tested to a limited degree. Each component is tested separately. When you combine all of the elements into a system that has never been tested "put together" you are going to be really open to problems. The issue with how long it is taking to repair TTD is because when you build a prototype you rely on mostly hand machined parts to keep it running. The cyclone at Coney Island is a perfect example. That ride never really used commercial parts. It still doesn't. Every time there is a breakdown each part must be hand made. I would imagine that as Intamin builds more launch coasters of this type and magnitude we should see more stock parts.

I know this may be a little off topic but since the title of this thread is about rumors I thought I'd share this amusing one.

Today a friend of mine called me and said, "I heard that new ride at Cedar Point is closed down because someone broke their neck and died on it."

I started laughing and told him it was just mechanical failure. Then it made me think: Who starts up these rumors and worse yet, how can some people actually believe them.

Honest truth told to me by marina gate readmissions host:

Host: Hand stamped, two cents.

Me: That's cool, I think I have two cents.

Host: I better not take it, by the time you leave here its all you'll have.

hye its a new ride and they still are working out the bugs
yea
"Yea", lol. Sorry, I just think thats a great post. :) YES I AM MOCKING YOU.

So, once this Intamin engineer comes over at does what he has to, what exactly are the chances or this same ride error happing again? I know nobody really knows, but I am just curious to see if this is a common or "expect" problem, like a cable snapping, or if it is really rare and probably wont happen again? Thanks

haha Scott...

Somebody told me that during testing some girl was chewing gum when TTD lanuched, and she choked and died because of the shock from takeoff.

lol, I love those rumors. It amazes me that people think massive amounts (or really any) people are dying on these rides every year.

Actually Voodoo you were wrong about it being on dragster but not totally incorrect. On raging bull at SFGA a girl did die from choking on gum while riding the ride.

Eeck, bad case of newbie sarcasm...kinda painful to watch...

There should be a special class to teach people about sarcasm on the internet...

Folks, why is it that when a ride breaks down, you start things like: I heard from someone in Breakers Express, or I heard from a friend of mine who is working on the ride, or I know this and I know that, point being: you don't know anything. The only thing you know is: a valve. That's it. Stop the b.s about customs and so forth. Please.

"What time does the 10 pm laser show start?"

I did lose my gum on TTD while going over the top of the 420 ft. mark. It went flying out of my mouth as I was screaming.

The gum got more airtime than I did.....bummer.
