Rude guests at Breaker's Express

Kenny, I don't know the extent of your experience, but a certain amount of that goes both ways. Some of the worst service I have ever received has been from restaurants along US-250 in Sandusky/Perkins Township. Once, in 1996, I even ranted about it on r.r-c; Mark McKenzie had a similarly memorable experience in 2000, and then there was that truly aggravating visit to Friday's on Route 6...

It has gotten better. When Applebee's opened, it made a world of difference, and the Chili's helped even more. Country Kitchen is now long gone, may it rest in eternal aggravation. But as a general rule, customer service along 250, perhaps in all of Sandusky, generally stinks. And with those kinds of expectations already set, the customers are not going to be much better. The result is a death spiral: poor service begets nasty customers, which begets worse service. I'm guessing an average restaurant tip in Sandusky is probably about 7%.

It seems that any of the tourist traps feature bad customers and poor service. International Drive in Orlando is truly horrible, as are US-60 in Williamsburg, or that highway that runs through Pigeon Forge. But US-250 in Sandusky is in the aggregare one of the worst.

The only places I've had food on 250 in the last few years are BWW (always good service) and once at Outback in '06 (not stellar).

Good services at BWW? When I lived in Sandusky, I never once had good service there. I ate there often because I love the wings but could not stand the service. And it was not just me either. Ask anyone that lives in Sandusky about the service at B-dubs and they will tell you it stinks. Good for you that you never had trouble there though.

I worked in a resort that was open year round for 8 years. People sometimes want the impossible. I only had 2 problems with CP resorts and in both situations I was well taken care of even though I never asked for a refund. Once was when they gave me my room at Breakers and then while I was using the bathroom 2 people came in that were not with me because breakers accidently gave them the same room, I just wanted to get the confusion taken care of but they gave me one of my nights for free and free tickets as well for everyone involved. The other time was in 06 at BE when I had a messed up back. There were 2 life guards 1 was supposed to be watching the pool the other the hot tub, the problem was the one that was supposed to be watching the tub was instead to busy hitting on some girls that he was supposed to be "hooking up with after his shift" so instead of doing his job he closed the hot tub 2 1/2 hours early. Problem was I actually made sure BE had a hot tub because my back was in alot of pain and the doctor said as long as I soaked it for about 20 min before I went to bed it would be good. So I went to the desk not yelling or anything because it wasnt their fault and explained it to them, They apologized and I didnt have a problem for the rest of my stay and they gave me a 15% discount. So all in all it worked out.

I guess I just go with the right people (regulars).

I have never had any complaints about breakers express, other than the price going up.

I travel quite a bit, and have never complained about a hotel stay untill this last trip I went on to lake george Ny. The hotel should have been shut down. Here is the place, do not stay here. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g48462-d246794-Reviews-America_s_Best_Inn_Glens_Falls_Queensbury-Queensbury_New_York.html

I could not even stay one night at this hotel because it was so disgusting. I am still waiting to get my money back from this place. And from looking at the reviews, I am not the only one.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that I think it's funny to hear people complane about silly things like the taste of the coffee, or things that are not owed to them, when there are places like the hotel I listed above out there. The best thing to do, is to look at the hotel reviews before booking the room. I made the mistake of not doing this in NY last week.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think a lot of times people have the mentality of wanting something for nothing, so they'll find any little reason to demand they get comped and try to make a mountain out of a mole hill. The problem is that these people usually go into the situation guns blazing, demanding refunds and freebies from the get go, and that immediately puts any employee on the defensive. People who keep a calm demeanor and have realistic expectations for how the problem should be dealt with usually have much better luck.

Two years ago someone who worked at Breakers was telling me that some woman was demanding a refund on her room and her family's park tickets because one of the Halloweekends floats broke down while they were watching the parade. Sadly I think they ended up giving her a small amount off on her room, and she still wasn't satisfied.

So I did some internet research and got a good review for the Knight's Inn Motel down the road. I'd say the room cleanliness, value, and staff friendliness were comparable to BE when I got a similar price, but the free breakfast at K'sI combined with a platinum pass early entry edged out BE just a little.

If you're talking about the Knight's Inn on Cleveland Road, west of CP, then I should point out for potential travelers that the RR tracks are not far from here, and unless you're a very heavy sleeper, you're going to hear trains going by. All night long.

We stayed at Breakers Express once two years ago. We usually stay at the Hotel Breakers, but we wanted to save a some money this time for budget reasons. When returning to our room after being at CP we found dead ants in the bathroom and tub. We found live ants in the main room and on the bed sheets. We called the desk, they were friendly. They wanted to send someone up to spray the room and change the sheets. We weren't too excited about that idea, where were the newly killed ants going to go. What if there were ants in the matress and box springs. We requested a defferent room and they gave us one. The new room was on the opposed side of the hotel. As we moved our things there we noticed the hallway floors were filled with food and garbage and many bugs of different kinds. It's not unusual for people to leave room service trays outside of there rooms, but this was a large amount of garbage. No wonder there were bugs. There were many young people hanging out sitting on the hallway floors talking and texting. Many not moving out of the way as we were carrying our things. Nothing against young people folks, but these people needed a lesson in hotel ettiquette. It seems this is a place a bunch of kids rent on the cheap. We were quite disappointed in Breakers Express.

Our family has stayed at Cedar Point properties for years, and have never had a bad experience. It does cost more than other local hotels, but we had one bad experience after another at Econolodge, Comfort Inn, Howard Johnson and a few others,

One year at Breakers the hot water was out for several hours during the day, and we were only charged 1/2 of the regular rate for the day. We didn't ask for a discounted rate but CP offered it due to the inconvenience.

Please remain in your seat until the ride comes to a complete and final stop.

^Yeah, I dunno about two years ago, but as someone who's had past ant issues in my own house, I'm very aware and alert of their presence, but this year stayed at BE for 7 nights (on three separate trips) and didn't see one bug ever. So maybe (hopefully!) CF stepped up their pest control management, to which as someone who works in real estate, Ecolab is the sh*t and can convert the most god forsaken infested properties into spotless heavens without huge expense.

My girlfriend and I always ate in our rooms and created some crumbs on the floor, and I always tried to strategically leave visible trash in those areas in hopes the room would actually get vacuumed! (especially with the dark carpet)

Customers are always right. Asshats are not.

What is an Asshat.

If you stay in a hotel you have no idea who your neighbors are. They can be rude. They can be nice. They might not even say anything to you.

The problem with a hotel is that you are going to sleep next to a person on vacation predominentally. These people are out for a good time. Its too bad you have a job that puts you in the position of being on the road. DON'T CRY HERE ABOUT IT!
