I will be visiting Cedar Point next week and absolutely love roller coasters! Due to a car accident in 94, however, my back and neck tend to act up when I "overdo" it on rough rides. Thus, can anyone warn me which rides are the "roughest" so that I can prepare myself appropriately?
Thanks!
Mean Streak is the roughest coaster there. If I were you, for safety reasons, I wouldn't ride it.

Predictably, the two wooden roller coasters at the point will probably present the biggest problem. Be careful with the Blue Streak and the Mean Streak. Also, the Corkscrew might be a little iffy. Other than that, I think you should be OK.
Definately Mean Streak. I would be careful with Corkscrew and Blue Streak also. Wildcat isn't bad but it has an abrupt stop at the end.
Actually, Cedar Point has done an excellent job making the rides smoother this season (even Raptor is smoother). You shouldn't have any problem with Corkscrew. However, even the smoothest wooden coaster can be a bit rough. Although greatly improved, Mean Streak and Blue Streak are still a bit jarring around the curves.
Another thing you can try is sitting in the center of a roller coaster car and near the front of the train on rides like Magnum, Mine Ride, and Blue Streak. These rides have three rows of seats per CAR. You may want to try this because the ride here is naturally smoother. Your not directly above any wheels.
One last comment. Wildcat has two points were sudden stops are involved. One is at the beginning of the ride before the lift hill and the second is at the end. If your prepared for that you should be fine.
I'll let someone else who has ridden Demon Drop this season comment on that one.

My dad has a bad back, and he had a bit of problem with Gemini, just because of a couple of the transitions, but he was fine. He refused to go on MS, BS, or CCMR. He wouldn't ride CCMR because a few years ago it gave him problems.

IMHO, Mean Streak is MUCH better this year....I found Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, and my first run on Magnum to be a little rough...
mikey :0
I've found the Gemini to be rough from time to time. The best way I'd think to not overdo it would be to spread the rougher coasters out throughout the day. None of them, with the possible exception of the Mean Streak, are overly rough, but take it easy! Just don't go away wishing you'd gone on a ride! ;)

I just make an appointment with my chiropractor after riding Mean streak

It's Dan K's fault
I can't believe anyone would believe that Mean Streak is any better than it was. Now granted, I haven't ridden it since 98, but today I think all of my fillings were rattled loose by that ride. It really slowed me down for an hour after riding it.
It's a beautiful coaster to look at, but that's all I'll ever do from now on. I just can't take the bone raddling anymore.
Personally, I think CP should have a chiropractor on site for folks that ride Mean Steak! LOL

Actually.. I've ridden MS more this season than in the last 4 combined... Nice ride this year (for a large woodie).
I saw only one person mention, what I feel is the "CHiropractors dream" coaster... Corkscrew.. I'll probably never ride it again after my 2 rides this season. Once just so I could say I hit them all in a day, second to make sure the ride wasn't just a flike... It wasn't... It plain hurt...

I've never found Corkscrew to be particulary rough. Mantis on the other hand. . .

Blue Streak rough? Ride it this year! It's as smooth as glass! Mean Streak...two things destroy that ride. Brake and BRAKE!!!
Rob, I gotta agree with you about Corkscrew...
Haven't ridden it since early last year because it beat me up so bad!

55 seconds.
I thought my 5/9 ride on Magnum was much rougher than my same day ride on Corkscrew.

Thanks to everyone for all of this great information! If anyone else has any opinions to share, please do! I would also love to hear feedback on the Demon Drop and Power Tower.
Now, I need to wish for sunshine next week. Keep your fingers crossed for me as I am flying in from Boston and don't have much flexiblity on the days I can go to the park (Monday and Tuesday are it)!
Demon Drop can be a little on the rough side, but Power Tower is as smooth as glass. Once you do PT, there really isn't any comparison with DD.

Mantis isn't rough, just intense.
I'd really leave off Demon Drop, unless you're superbly fond of drop towers and really want to do them both. Power Tower is incredibly smooth (albeit you can hit the harness pretty hard with the airtime), but Demon Drop can be very very rough.

mantis is pretty rough, it knocked the earing out of my ears the last time i rode it. and if you go on snake river falls at the bottom of the drop it stops pretty fast.
