Roller Coasters on TV

Anyone know if there are any shows soon. On any station, Science, discovery, anything.

I have 6 - 1 hour shows on tape.... everyone keeps asking to borrow it.

If you want to know when stuff is on, go to www.tvguide.com and do a search on the word coaster or amusement park.

Depending on where you live, you will have different programing.

There was a show recently just on the Science channel about coasters and thrill rides from 2003. It was new, and showed for a few days. I haven't seen it on again though.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

There will be a show on the discovery channel July 26th at 6:00 pm est time i heard its supposed to be new and may include TTD
It's about time that discovery channel has some roller coaster shows on. They didn't have the memorial day special on or anything. The travel channel have become the World's Top 10 Beaches Channel. Give me some Scream Parks....Thrill Chills and Spills. None of that other stuff boring travel stuff. Oh...my favoirte World's best RV Parks.
I know how all of you feel, about a year ago i wrote a letter to Discovery Channel people b/c i was pissed off they were'nt going to have coasters on basically all of last year, they sent me a bs letter back of apology that basically said: "sorry mr./ mrs., we will not be having a coaster marathon or anything similar to that because we have more important specials this summer we will be showing. We will be showing Shark Week........".

That letter pissed me off, now the only thing I watch on Discovery Channel is Monster Garage.

For every coaster geek that gets mad because there isn't hours of POV on Discovery, there's a shark geek, RV geek, home geek, car geek, hotel geek, travel geek, gardening geek, cooking geek, etc,. waiting to take his/her place. It's a niche market - the average viewer might enjoy the occasional coaster special, but they're not going to lose any sleep if it's not on.

That said, I find most coaster shows to be pretty boring.

I'd have to say the only coaster shows I really enjoy watching are ones that are exclusively or mostly based on Cedar Point. Other ones don't really interest me, probably because I've never been to other parks (unfortunately). I've got one of the "Greatest Coaster" videos, I don't remember the name but its got the tall kinda dorky guy and the chick absolutely afraid of coasters. I do remember that its got MS, Magnum and I think Raptor on it. As well as Beast, Drachen Fire, and I think Batman.

The best is "Top 10 Hotel Bathrooms" on the Travel Channel. It was the most useless top 10 of all time.

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?

Keep an eye out for me on one of those Discovery Channel shows. I taped for them last August (on Raptor--gasp!) and I still haven't heard about it airing yet. The producers promised they would send me a copy before it aired, but they may have forgotten, and honestly I really hadn't thought about it either!

When I shot on Magnum in 2001 they told me that day when the show would air.

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

I agree...there should be at least an occassional coaster show. There has to be a market for it. I'm sick of all these monster and chopper shows...completely boring. I mean, really, I watched one of those monster shows and they turned an ambulance into some kind of monster vehicle...who gives a rat's @ss!? How pointless is that?

Alright... For those of you who are too lazy to look it up, here is what I found. www.TVGuide.com used to search 2 weeks in advance, but it looks as though it is now limited to a 1 week search. I left out channel numbers, as everyone would not have the same cable company or even have cable at all.

On Sunday the 25th Food Channel is airing, "Best Of: Amusement Parks." Included: Hershey Park; Busch Gardens Tampa; Noah's Ark Water Park; Stampede Steakhouse at the Mall of America.

On Monday the 26th Discovery is airing, "Amusement Parks: The Pursuit of Fun." Chronicling the history of amusement parks, from the wooden roller coasters of the turn of the century to modern theme parks featuring high-tech rides.

On Friday the 30th at 10pm, Saturday the 31st at 1am and 10am Travel Channel is airing, "World's largest Amusement Park." Examining Cedar Point, in Sandusky, Ohio, which features more than 68 amusement rides and attractions, including 14 rollercoasters. Also: how employees tackle maintenance of the park, which was founded in 1967.

I don't have the Travel Channel :(. I disagree Walt. I think that if you are a true coaster fan then you would be upset if they took the annual coaster special off air. Maybe for those who can make it to the park, you wouldn't care to watch it on tv...because you were just there. But for those of us who cannot make it to the park, we need things to get us by and through our withdrawls.

I taped "World's Largest Amusement Park", when it was originally aired in 2002. I believe it to be the best coaster show I have ever seen. Maybe because it is specifically on Cedar Point :)

I also taped "Ultimate Guide: Roller Coasters". It was also a pretty good coaster show. It was the one that featured that girl, and the her male friend who was afraid of coasters. They ventured to a few California parks.

I taped "Top 10 coasters" in 2002 (all of these shows were aired back to back on the Discovery Channel Memorial Day) and it was a great show. I think that was the one that you were on Jo. I remember when I saw you and Dan on those shows I thought it was very cool, because I knew of you guys from this site.

Some coaster shows I have seen were pretty boring. I just watched "Amusement Parks: The Pursuit of Fun" on the Discovery Channel. I missed the first 25 minutes of it. I was looking at this forum and then saw it was on so I ran downstairs and watched it. It was alright. I only heard CP mentioned maybe twice. Perhaps they mentioned something more elaborate on it in the first 25 minutes.

Anyways there is my opinion on this subject. Sorry if you read it and thought it was a waist of your time. lol.

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

"Waist of my time?"

My waist was best in High School. Things seem to have expanded since then.

WHAT ABOUT EXTREME RIDES 2003 or 2004 I HAVENT SEEN THEM! I DONT EVEN KNOW IF THEY HAVE MADE AN "EXTREME RIDES 2004", Have they?
I don't know i have been wondering the same thing Joe@cp04, but one thing i know is that this year i have been going thorugh withdrawls, becuase i haven't yet been to Cedar Point(i am going though, LOL) but i have been goiing back to my taped versions and they have nothing about top thrill dragster on them, and most of them not even millennium force!

Jesz, i totally agree with your thinking
