Ridership.

I have to say that after looking at the numbers, I'm proud of not only my crew, but a lot of the other's I knew as well. I never would have guessed that with the addition of seat belts, Matterhorn was going to beat last year's numbers by any amount. The biggest surprise for me though, was Dodgem. The entire Triangle was up a total of 153,157 over 2007.

I of course have to mention the Blue Streak crew, my original home. :) Those guys were awesome and really worked hard towards that higher number. My hat's off to you guys (and girls).

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Just saying that all that hard work by the crews this past summer is just being met with a slap in the face.

They took the wage off the site, but now there is no pay rate listed. So untill they change it, it is still below min wage.

Sorry to change the subject.....now back to ridership talk.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

No, it's being met by a bunch of constant crying that's getting old. For all any of us know, it was a text change that didn't make it to the production Web site. Get over it already. Don't bring it up here.

^^Wow, Mine Ride down to 2-3 trains. I remember working back in 1981, the Mine Ride typically ran 4-5 trains. The Frontier Lift and Mine Ride use to always have ride total competitions. Back then, the Mine Ride would give over 20,000 rides per day. Frontier Lift (which I worked on) would come in a close second.

Mine Ride has a new Safety system which was put in 2000, which allows only 3 trains on the track at any given time, 2008 we crushed the previous years totals, and our best day was just under 11,000.

Looks great Schuyler! Thanks! The only one I'm worried about is Wildcat but we all know that coaster had some trouble last year. Great to see Mantis +3.4%...wonderful!

I wouldn't be too worried about WildCat...there's nothing to be worried about. If they hadn't been down a month, they would have come pretty close to beating my numbers, if not actually beating them. The crew did a great job this season...and, it doesn't hurt having a little boyfriend/girlfriend competitiveness about numbers, hahaha. :)

Thats why I said "we all know that coaster had some trouble last year", if it wasn't for that, all 15 would be up.

Only if you're talking about "adult coasters". Woodstock was down, and we don't have numbers for Jr. Gemini. I still don't understand what you were worried about.

I'd like to say that the Mean Streak Crew did an awesome job, racking up the highest amount of leadership the ride has seen in the past 3 seasons. Kudos, and good luck to you guys next year.

I dont know how SkyHawk numbers are gonna look after the 2009 season since it is no longer part of the Point Perks/Joe Cool roster. Loosing that extra hour every day is really going to hurt. We will do our best though.

I'd like to see the ridership for ripcord. It had to have been down this year with skyscraper cannibalizing the crap out of it.

Even without Skyscraper, it would have been down.

To a Whopping 4,000 or so riders over the course of a season. Thats slightly less than a one day total... Its not like you're missing out on 100,000 riders because they removed an hour from your operating schedule.

Last edited by Stringy,

Anyone think the extra weekend had a little bit to do with the extra ridership? The park was flippin' dead most of the time up until July 4, after which it was slammed just about daily.

As for RipCord, I would guess that we averaged about 175 per day while I was there. July and August really saved our butts in the ridership department. If you just take those two months, it was over 200 per day. So, if you want to do the math, we can probably approximate it.

The Paddlewheel numbers are way down cause the Pirates shut them down early. :)

I'd also be curious to find out the Ripcord/Skyscraper numbers. I can approximate, but it would be interesting to know for sure.

I'm very impressed with the flat ride performance, especially because many of them are often run by a crew of 1.

  • Here's Schulyer-ride's list sorted by ridership. The biggest surprise, to me at least, is how high Dodgem is on the list. Although, they were actually open in the fall for the first time in 5 or 6 years too.
