Ride Pride Allegedly Rapes 14 Year Old Cedar Point Employee

Even worse than victim blame is building blame. Shame.

Used to be you had to show your ID to get into the Cedars, and the minors had a special ID back then that identified them as such. They were not permitted in any of the dorms, period. Either the policy has changed or someone slipped up.

Cedars has so many doors and residents sneak in so many guests. I wouldn't be surprised that more guests sneak into Cedars than register at the desk.

They have always allowed 14 and up. Just not violating minor labor laws... so, sweeps and games and such.

Sad times when people can't just laugh at a post made to lighten up the situation and move on. Of course it wasn't the building's fault.

I guess I'll work on better jokes.

Of course buildings don't rape people. They just make it easier for people to be raped.

[Sounds too much like the anti-gun argument.]

A winklie would have made it clear you were joking and not just on the bulldoze Cedars band wagon.

I feel like all the clues were there to show they were joking.

Regardless, it certainly makes a harder case for entry control at the dorms. I know at my alma mater all of the older dorms that had multiple doors had had the side entrances closed off or made either fire exits or exit-only, and I imagine that it's a security trend anywhere you have dorm-style housing, college or otherwise.

Rape is not a joke. Beware of being on the wrong side of justice.

I have a damn good sense of humor, but there is no "lightning up" the situation when a child has been raped. Moving on all right...

^ I agree. The raptor thing was alright to make fun of. For example, that guy really got aHEAD of himself. Or He'll never be the HEAD of a major corperation. However, the rape, that's nothing to joke about.

^ Yeah, because somebody who is dead is far lass valuable than somebody who has been suspected of being raped. Judge not, lest ye be judged...

^ I was thinking the exact same thing. Considering they both put themselves in a situation where the end result was something tragic. Neither are a joking matter.

Ride Prides are fundraisers for their organizations just as StealthPirate07 has said. They're easy to spot out. Next time you're at the park during Halloweekends, they are the workers who are wearing khaki pants and have the old clip name tags with the red border that the employees used to have in seasons prior to 2011.

I noticed alot of those workers this past weekend. Most of the workers in Pagoda were wearing fundraiser tags. Noticed a few in Sweet Spot as well.

To be fair, the guy who got hit did jump the fence and put himself in the situation.

To be fair, the girl who allegedly got raped DID sneak into employee housing at the age of 14 to hang out with some college aged guys, knowing you must be 18 or older to enter.

In no way am I condoning rape, but putting yourself in a situation that you have no business being in will ALWAYS have the possibility of a negative result.

This makes no sense to me. That's total hypocrisy. You can't possibly tell someone they can't joke about rape, and then condone making fun of someone who died because it was "their fault". Heads up, both people made poor decisions.

It wasn't a joke about the person specifically, it was a knock on where it happened because it already has a bad rep.

A child's poor decision is generally viewed as different than an adult's poor decision. I believe there is a greater duty of care afforded a minor and if this young person's story turns out to be true then I suspect Cedar Point is going to be in some financial trouble, at the least, and may have to take greater precautions going forward.

You have to protect a minor from others and, often, from themselves.
