For the lifers who have been working at the park for a while now do you think ride pride has grown or decreased since they started the co-ed crews in '99? I mean when it was just the Magnum girls, or just the Raptor guys the crews seemed to work better together. Maybe its just me.

Personally, I slipped out before it went co-ed, but from friends I've talked to who are still there, they don't like it so much. It seems as though while the staffing problems have eased off sometimes (but certainly not all the time), it just isn't as much fun anymore.

I, personally, liked the coed crews. I was on Raptor this year(my 4th) and this was the best crew I have ever been on at CP. I don't think the crew being all girls or all guys makes ride pride. It is how well everyone gets along, works together, and how well the leadership handles the crew. The Raptor crew this year worked very well together and we all still keep in touch! A lot of them are going back to Raptor so they can work together again!!
I thought "Ride Pride" were the fund raisers towards the end of the season..
Sorry, I know what you're talking about but I had to say it...

I too was on raptor 2000, and will be again for 2001..I have a lot of ride pride, and i consider the crew as my family. I miss them terribly! ~A
I definately have ride pride. I actually build up the Mine Ride more than I should. I know it's a crappy little coaster, but oh well. I have a fun time working there. Plus I'm sure you will always have a place in your heart for the first ride you worked. Then again, and Kelly from Gemini is in the same boat with Gemini, Mine Ride is the only ride I've been contracted to (I worked one night at Raptor, definately a blast I wanna do it again, and one day at TC, before i became ATL.)

I don't think that having a coed crew brings down ride pride or crew efficency. It really has nothing to do with it. It is just how well the crew works together, Coed or no Coed. If a crew can't get along they are not going to work together.
My first summer Michael Weber and myself were the first to guys to be on the Magnum XL-200 Crew. While some of the girls were estatic that we were there. There was some that weren't. We all finally bonded and that made us do our jobs well. By the end of the summer we had formed a real tight crew and became one of, if not the best crew Magnum has ever seen. This was my favorite crew to work with. The Coed, 10th Anniversary, Two Trains on a Lift, Dans 800 something rides, 1 Train running, 1999 Magnum XL-200 Crew....
Okay I know i am going to catch some slack from the Raptor 00 Crew. Don't get me wrong, We were an awesome crew. But you never forget your roots.

Magnum '99......HELL YEAH! Magnum still loves you even though you left John! :)
Yes John Magnum had a very special crew in '99, the best crew I have seen in the park. It was the best summer of my life and I really owe part of it to the crew!

Andy, I got back there alot at the end of the this past season. You had left before i could get there. I still had fun working with Tim and Mark.
Even with the train full it almost stopped on the top second hill and rolled back. That was a wild night. I tracked walked that night and was walking side ways the wind off the lake was blowing so hard. I don't know how you guys rode over and over again.

I only did it because I was riding with some idiot looking for his 1,000th ride. ;)
At work the next day, people thought I was tanning. It was wind burn.

Since I seem to be about the only "lifer" here that admits working there pre 2K, yes I think the "ride pride" has decreased, because it was a bunch of guys working at the same location gawking at the same women together - made for some interesting discussions, egos, just name it. It doesn't mean the efficency of the crew has necisarily decreased, I think efficiency has actually gotten better. For instance, crew parties will never be what they used to be, like when PTC had the "screw the crew party" in 98. The crew was all dudes, and we hooked each other up with a blind date, you could either be nice to your crew member and give him something nice, or you could "screw" it, and just give him someone he couldn't put up with. Those days are long gone.
