It really depends.  In challenge park, we basically have one station and then we can pick and chose anything else we want to learn. Like when I was hurt i worked soak city admitions instead of racepark and when they were short on guards I did tops of water slides.  My roomate Laura was assigned to corkscrew and most coaster ops stay there but corkscrew sometimes sent ops to help in camp snoopy and GCA. Then "circle ride" ops usually have 2-3 rides that they run.  Like my friend scott ran the Swabunchen, the giant wheel and the space spiral.

As far as working in rides...If your put on a spinner or smaller rides they work in triangles. Monster-Dogem-WitchesWheel, SpaceSpiral-Giant Wheel-Swa*****in, are all some of the triangles. In children areas like Snoopy and KiddyKingdome, the staff work all the rides. If you work on a coaster (or bigger rides like AntiqueCars) your pretty much assigned to that coaster unless you are over staffed. Then you are sent to other rides to help them out, ride "sharing". I've worked every ride from CorkScrew to Gemini with the exception of PattleWheel. If you are assigned to one ride and you want to work others, its easy to get a temporary switch to help out, but a permanate is kinda hard. I hope that helps you out.
