Ride Operators!

I will be 18 July 5th of the season I want to work..I think that that would be fine, I read it at CP's website and it says either 18 or 17 and soon to be 18
Maybe I wont be able to work CP when I graduate...
you can still work there, do games or food service. or something like that, you get most of the same benifits!! like free admission to the park
Well...I guess I could come back as a ride op the year later, but I will contact Cedar Point in advance of my application..
See now I think she's wrong because according to my ATL if you are 17 and have graduated high school you can live on point and work ride ops. As far as I know that is but don't take that as a one hundred percent fact. She could be right...but as far as I know you should still be able to work in rides next summer. And believe me it's a blast....hopefully i'll see ya there next year.

i dont know ptc. becuase i was told from some sups. that it is a state law you had to be 18 cause 17 yr olds cant do the controls of any ride.
Trouble! I miss you so much girl. By the way, you are a CP memory book whore.

Anyways, I know that the 17 and graduated rule qualifies one to live in Cedar Point Housing....but I don't know about being a ride op.

Hmm I thought you could be 17 and graduated from high school to be able to work in rides.

I feel like this topic has turned into a Corkscrew reunion page.

Hey everyone. I'm Brett Keyser the team leader of Camp Snoopy for 2003. You cannot work in rides unless you are 17, with one exception, the CP & LE Railroad. 17 year olds are aloud to work the train. I had a ride pride that was 17 and her birthday was in three days and she was not aloud to work for me and she was sent to CP & LE. As far as working rides its nice if you get the ride you want but you cant always count on it. When I applied in 2002 I wanted to work a coaster. However I was placed in Camp Snoopy. I have learned that the summer will be what you make it no matter of your work location. There is a great crew in rides (the best in the park) so any location you are at will provide you with the best summer you will ever have.

So are you saying that you have to be 18 to run controls, but you can do the other positions at 17? Or do you just have to be flat out 18 to do anything ride-op related?

OMG! The Space Spiral is leaning!!" Must be the weight of that new air conditioning system everyone keeps hypothesizing about...

I think that you have to be 18 to do the controls, which I think is plain stupidity, but then again...17 year-olds arent exactly adults yet. I think that you CAN do other positions on the ride, with the exception of the controls. If only my birthday wasnt July 5th, :(.
You have to be 18 to work any kind of ride at CP

Just work in another department. I know someone that worked Merch one year and was a ride host the next. As far as being a ride host goes, you will not find a better group of people in the park. Are we cocky? Hell yes we are. Do other departments hate us? Yes, they do. But, we have a right to be cocky since we are the best in the world. If you aren't going to do Ride Ops, I'd say your best bet is something in Merchandise. But if your an outdoor person, maybe something in park services.

Just because you apply for Park Operations does not mean that you will be put on a roller coster. you may be put in camp snoopy. i think after you work 80 hours they will transfer you if there is a spot open.

I personally think its good that you have to be 18 to operate attractions. There are many places where all you have to be is 16...I think it is dependant upon not only company policy but also the law.

Here in Las Vegas, its a little wierd when it comes to age limits. If you are working within city limits you have to be 16. If you work in Clark County (the county we sit in.) you have to be 17. That's why operators at the Stratosphere only have to be 16 because its within the City of Las Vegas...all the other rides on the Strip are in the county.

Future CP Ride op?

Oh one more thing...I was going to apply the summer after I graduated high school (back in 2001). I called and asked about working rides since I didn't turn 18 until July. They told me I could live there but wouldnt work rides...no exceptions

Future CP Ride op?

u can work the train if ur 17 and graduated thats the only ride u can work cus monkeys can work that ride so yes thats the only ride u can operate.
What a bunch of crap that is. Maybe I just wont work at CP the first year outta High School. I wouldnt want to stand at a cash register all day. Besides, I am not the best with money.

This doesnt mean that I have a 'closed-mind', its just that all I really wanted to do was operate a roller coaster.

If you apply early enough, then you can usually pick a ride.

I guess the NO UNDER 18 rule is out of safety, although I am very bright, and am too smart for my own good (at times). Also, top of my class (Number 1 baby!) and I could blab on to you a million other things about my life, and me being one of the smartest people to every walk my school in the 80 years it has been open.........anyways...

Its cool bein the best, but ya get nowhere without friends (enemies are fun too...)

Alright...I will consider something else F**K, S*it, I hate these stupid da*n rules..lol

Srry, blowin off some more steam....

playa21 don't let your age stop you from working at CP next summer. There are tons of other areas you could work besides rides. I know a lot of people who worked in games and loved it. you can be 17 and work in games. Also just because you apply for rides ops doesn't mean you'll be put on a roller coaster. I was put on Monster/Witches Wheel and it was awesome. I did work on some roller coasters, Magnum and TTD throughout the summer. All in all, just don't let your age stop you from having one of the best summers of your life.
