I think you missed my first point. There are two things here that I feel contribute to the problem I'm talking about. First is using the same name to identify DIFFERENT rides. For instance, White Water Landing at Dorney Park is a ride actually similar to Snake River Falls. Two totally different rides. However, Chaos is the same at every park its installed at. So, I said that I'm ok with the same ride having the same name, when in fact, it IS the same.
The other point that I was making was that installing "clones" at all of your parks is just a dumb idea. Sure, if the only thing you care about is making money, then its a great idea. But, I put quality over quantity any day. That's just who I am. And, I would argue that you are able to charge more if your quality is higher. How do you think Disney became so popular? They offered something so completely unique that people didn't have any other options. I also think that Six Flags would be more profitable if they had unique rides at all of their parks, not the same damn Superman ride at every park.
comparing theme parks to pizza hut isn't a very good comparison either. people don't travel all over the world to go to a pizza hut in sandusky. but, they DO travel all over the world to go to theme parks (and amusement parks) that are unique and don't exist in their own backyard.
Well, the Dominator is like almost an exact half replica of Power Tower, but it has a different name. Chaos isn't owned by Cedar Fair, many parks have Chaos. I <3 Steel Force, though!
Who wants to see a high dive? I said, who wants to see a high dive?
Dorney has a Thunderhawk-wood coaster-and Geauga Lake has a Thunderhawk which is a slc. Those are the only coaster name "copies" that I know of in the company.
Thrills Around the Corner!
There is dominator as well.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
It's part of "synergy" in a way. People see Wildwater Kingdom at Geauga, they'll recognise it at Dorney and want to go. Steel Venom at GL and Valleyfair! WWL and Thunder Canyon at CP and Dorney.
Be glad they don't call Wild Thing, Mamba, and Steel Force all Magnum. And Talon not being called Raptor: Grip of Fear.
I think the amount of similar names they have now are fine. It's nowhere close to Six Flags.
