Ride assignments

I'm planning on applying to work at the park in '07 and was curious as to how ride assignments worked?
Are you able to request a specific ride, and if so, how likely is it you'll get assigned to it?
I'm hoping to work either Wicked Twister and/or maXair...which brings me to my next question:
Kings Island tends to have employees share two rides in their assignments from what I can tell. For instance, people may be assigned to Top Gun/Son of Beast. Does Cedar Point do this, or are you assigned to one specific ride and just get to move if another ride is understaffed?

Some crews are split (Chaos, Troika, and Space Spiral) and others, mostly the coasters, are not.

Yeah, there are a few triangles (Giant Wheel: GW, Troika, Space Spiral. Peanut's Playground: PP, Ocean Motion, Chaos.. others), but most are just one ride. If you apply early and ask the supervisor that hires you to work a certain ride, they might give it to you. Depends on staffing levels, etc, but it never hurts to ask.

Thanks for the info.

Also, if anyone has worked Twister or maXair, what is your opinion on which is better to work?

Oh, also wondering which housing option is best in your opinions? Cedars sounds good in that it's right at the park, you don't live with many people in a room, and it's cheap. Commons has a lot of people in the apartment, and it's more expensive, but it sounds nicer and is air-conditioned. Ughh...the choices.
See, this is why I'm starting so early. *** Edited 5/3/2006 7:53:42 PM UTC by kirk06***

Bunch of threads already, but Commons dorms are the way to go. Air-conditioned, newest,, one or two roommates, lockers to secure your stuff (it's important), and practically guaranteed bathroom availability. My choice, hands-down. *** Edited 5/3/2006 8:55:43 PM UTC by HoosierTTD***

i worked twister and maXair for almost exactly equal amounts of time last year. i can't really say which one was 'better'. twister is a little faster, simply because it's a rollercoaster, and the cycle's only 2 minutes total, while at maXair it's ~5 minutes. i'd say that in a lot of ways, twister is more fun because it's a bigger crew, which means you get to know more people. but if you have a good crew like we had at maXair last year, you'll get to know those 8-9 people realllly well and they'll be your best friends. maXair also sucks a little bit because you have to check all 50 seats every cycle, people throw up a lot, and people kick you really hard in the shins while you check their harnesses. plus, there's barely any shade at maXair, which is nice, if you want a good tan... the bad things about wicked twister was, last year at least, all the down time we had for mechanical reasons, and dealing with angry guests because of it.

really, my point is that each ride is what you make of it. some people love working the flat ride triangles, some people love coasters. it mainly depends on your crew, your leadership team, and your attitude.
