Reride with No Line Policy

Granted it was 98 degrees both days...

I believe that says it all.

Sounds cold.

Heat index for those days was 118. I haven't seen KI crowded all year. I've been there 5 times and have waited no more than 15 minutes for anything.

Interesting...I guess I'll have to take another trip before Haunt then, and get in on some re-ride action.

I never ask to re-ride. If I see it going on and have the opportunity to do it, it's a great bonus but nothing I ever expect and I don't get upset when I hear them telling people no re-rides.

I felt fortunate to get 4 re-rides on The Beast 3 weeks ago, that was the first time I got a re-ride since one night before closing on Mean Streak back in 2009.

I'd give my eye teeth for re-rides on Millennium Force or Dragster but I know that's wishful thinking and will NEVER happen.

Actually you can do better than a re-ride on Millennium. If there is no line and they have the handicap access gate open you can get on the train ahead of the one you just got off.

That'd be sweet...but I have NEVER seen it with no line. A walk-up at times but not in a couple of years. My best session with MF was June 2009-early entry got me 12 rides before the park opened to the public one morning. I haven't even come close to that again. I think I even got a bunch of rides in one night before closing when it was a walk up which I never expected at night.

On july 28th (maverick night) the crew of skyhawk was letting you reride after 9:30 as long as noone wanted your seat, I did 5 straight :)

I WILL ALWAYS KICK THE SKY.

KI is always packed on Saturdays, they are miserable. During Haunt it can get pretty bad on Fridays too, but a Saturday trip to KI is not enjoyable.

The most miserable part of KI was the queue for Firehawk- love the ride but holy crap-and yeah, that was on a Saturday morning right when it opened.

Firehawk is probably the worst ride, capacity wise, I have ever been on.

Next to a Monster or Octopus, at any rate.

There have been times I got re-rides on Magnum and other times they said no. I would then politely say "no problem", and get out. They are just following rules and do not make them.

Policy stating that you would potentially be cutting in front of someone coming up to the station, does have some truth to it. But, I would argue by saying they are not here yet and this train is going to leave with empty seats. So, I do not see that as cutting. Just my viewpoint.

Someone mentioned earlier about having turnstyles on the exit side. Please don't! Six Flags does that and is such a pain! From an operational standpoint, you want to get the platform cleared as soon as possible so you can dispatch the train. But, doesn't happen so easily when you have a mob of people trying to go single file through the turnstyles!

I think there are advantages and disadvantages to having the turnstile at the exit gate. One advantage would be it keeps non riders out of the station. This is always a problem on Magnum and Mean Streak. But does it really make a difference where they are? It doesn't resolve the problem of counting re-rides.

Wanted to weigh in as a former ride op/lead of a CF park ride that frequently had empty queues.

The way it was always explained to me was this:

Person A asks to re-ride when the ride has a full line and is denied.
Later, Person B asks to re-ride when the ride queue is empty and is allowed.
Person A sees that Person B got to re-ride and is now upset, feels Person B got favoritism.

Many ride ops will let people re-ride if there's no one in line, even though it's technically against the rules, because they are either being nice or don't want to have to try and explain the rule to a guest. Supervisors/managers typically don't jump on employees about this because it's a very minor issue (compared to what they're normally worried about) and it's difficult to punish employees for basically being nice to guests. You should see re-rides as a bonus and not a right. If someone asks you to go back through an empty line, they're just doing their job.

No matter what policy is enforced, there's potential for someone to get mad, it's a lose-lose situation.

Person A is an idiot for being upset since there was no one to take the seat anyway. Person A is probably entitled and voted for Obama.

Nah, Person A is obviously only concerned about themselves. Clearly a Tea Partier. :)

Agreed!!

Don't even think about it, little boy. I will race you back to the Mean Streak and win.

I visited carowinds the other day and the park was dead and there policy was that if there was nobody waiting for your seat you can stay on. I thought that policy worked very well and all the parks should be the same
