Report 6-19-03

Ok, First off I would like to comment on the rain.. I arrived at the park at 9:45A and it was raining. The gates opened at 10A and I proceeded into the park. No roller coasters were open yet due to no test runs. Looked around there was a long line for Demon Drop (WHY?) Anyways, I went down to TTD and the line was huge, Park Op people all over the place. I went up to one of them (It was 12P by this time and no one has moved.) and asked the man "How long before the ride opens?" He said, "3 more hours." Now, You know these diehard people would get a clue and come back, but.... WT was down all day, but good thing, the wind was very strong off the lake. Now at TTD, It was 3P and the line was smaller but people were still there. The ride OP was saying they are having a pump failure which has been happening since the ride opened, no clue when the problem should be fixed.. UGH.. On a side note, The damn fishfly's were horrible.
I was planning to post a trip report also and call it, "Still picking mayflies out of my hair," but I'll post it here since it is also about yesterday (6/19/2003).

By 11:30, I made it to Cedar Point. Unfortunately, all the rain slowed me down. The first thing I noticed when I got there was that it was pretty windy and cold. But as I entered the park, I saw a sign that said TTD was supposed to be running today although, "Intermittent delays possible." [I wasn't expecting to ride it anyway.] I went to the back of the park and happily rode Gemini and grabbed a Magnum Freeway pass. It seemed everything was running except WT, TTD, and the Sky Ride. Every time I walked through Frontier Trail, I made sure I covered my head the best I could, closed my mouth, and walked fast because of all the mayflies around. I still ended up eating a couple accidentally. (Ew.) Overall, I was able to ride most of the coasters I wanted to, and some twice over. I also rode countless thrill rides and the more gentle type of rides. The lines weren't bad... perhaps the rain scared people off. Before I left, I rode Thunder Canyon after watching dozens of really young kids get drenched even though it was 60 degrees. It was a silly choice since I had to drive home dripping wet and cold, but incredibly fun.

So even though the tallest and fastest roller coaster kept breaking down, I still had a great day. Really, it's possible.

At least your experience was better then mine.. LOL The mayflies were very intense this year. (I have been going to CP since 79') I don't remember CP having this much of a problem with them as was the case last night. It was so bad that you had to cover your pop because CP doesnt supply straws or lids (Another thread I could start. LOL) Yes, I was able to get on and off the rides with little or no wait, thanks to those who stayed in line at TTD thinking it was going to open...

I hate those mayflies!

Dear Valued Guest, I regret to inform you that Cedar Point’s newest roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster, is not currently in operation because of mechanical problems.
