I worked at cedar point last year 07 in rides and quit the end of august with no notice. I know stupid decision, I dont know why I did that. I am very sorry that I quit. Anyways I really miss working at CP(for some weird reason) and would like to go back in 08 if given another chance. My question is does anyone know if I could get rehired even if I quit? I know that dosent look good that I quit but this time I would stay for the whole contract. I know they are desperate for people mabye not that desperate. Well I emailed one of the area sups but i understand they are not there till jan? Well thanks in advance.
Yeah, the area manager is who you'll want to talk to. Typically they get these couple of weeks off and should be in shortly after the first of the year.
I agree with ben. Your SS# will be locked out as far as the applying process with HR. Only a department head can get you off the No-rehire list. So your Area manager is probably your best chance. Good Luck.

It is safe to say I likely never rehired a "no rehire". But, there were occassions when I would lift the no rehire status if another department called and asked about it. In those cases I would at least give my reasoning and then let the other department take their chances.
Quitting without notice is a significant burden to your department and one that you should think hard about before doing.

It might help if you had good dates for this upcoming season, like opening day to closing day.
I never really thought I would have difficulty, but I'm not sure now. I didn't finish my contract in 2007 due to school starting. I finished my full-time work, but didn't work weekends. I left with the status, "Quit for school." Is that going to give me problems for a rehire?

Again, your manager will be able to answer that. Questions like this are really going to be based on an actual Cedar Point manager's review of you, not someone here that use to work on a ride. It's not just a simple yes/no. I am pretty sure in most cases it depends on more then just leaving early anyway. They probably take into account your overall work performance for the time you were there. If you stayed for 95% of your time AND you were an outstanding employee, they might hire you back. Its up to them, not Point Buzz.
^I'm not really looking for Pointbuzz's approval. I'm looking for someone who had a similar circumstance, for I can base it off that.

From what I remember 3 years ago, I spent April work crew, hiring. You are given a, what I think, is a 3 tier review each year. Attendance, productivity, and I think some kind of overall grade. The grades were numbers 0 to 3 (3 being the best). Keep in mind I’m going off memory. When a no-rehire was up for hiring, I had to get the their file and find out why. Get a full explanation again from the employee and report everything to my Area Manager after a normal interview. He then had a choice to take it to the Higher ups. I admit we never hired anyone that was in our division again, but I do know we took someone from merchandise and she ended up being a great employee and then some. She had a situation like yours if I remember correctly. During the season when staffing got thin, I remember at least 4 no-rehire employees returning to our division. Funny thing is none of them made it too long and all quit again. Old habits are hard to break sometimes.
Now this was 3 years ago. I know hiring has been getting worse year after year from what I’ve been hearing through my friends at the park. So I think you have a small chance. But if you were leaving for school, you knew in advance that you were going. If they knew, I think you have a good shot even if you didn’t fulfill your contract. The key is did they know about school and how many points did you have! The points you racked up count too! As I said before Good Luck!
I know I was told as I’m a no rehire, if I’m serious about coming back, call me and we will see what we can do. But I found a regular job right after that conversation. While I loved the point and the experience, I needed to have benefits and insurance. Something I wasn’t getting at CP. But I do admit the money wasn’t my issue. While it was double the hours, but when you add in living expenses, I made more money at CP that I do now (I don’t mind the hours). Funny but true.

I had a friend who got hired, but never showed up, he told our manager his current job would'nt let him work over the summer at CP. He applied again the following season, and did the same thing again, so I guess it depends on your manager. I left that department and went to another department the following season, and have stayed there, and I don't know of anyone quiting and then getting rehired the next season. I was a TL in '07, and we had people quit with no notice, and it was hard to cover that spot with who we had, till we could get someone else to give up their day off and come in to work. Lucky for us we had good people, who wanted hours. If you do get rehired, I really hope you stay for the whole season, Halloweekends included. Good luck!
Well I worked at the Point in 2005, started in April and left in July. I left because of an injury that was unreported (so racked up a lot of points) I was originally told that I was being put on the Conditional rehire list but after going to another department (who was willing to let me work off points) my manager would not approve the transfer and I ended up not turning in my paperwork because he made me mad (I know worst mistake of my life).
The last two years I have been trying to get back in to the point. I do know that you have to go to your previous manager and get him to OK it. I think that another manager can step in but not sure.
I really screwed up with how everything was handled, and I am planning on trying again (my full story can be found in the archives) and hoping that the third time is a charm. I actually ended up staying in Sandusky with the hopes of being able to return.
The part that I am really disappointed in is that because I am now on the no-rehire list at Cedar Point that means that I cannot work at any Cedar Fair park (even a park that I worked at before with great achievement). I am hoping that even if I can't get it lifted at Cedar Point that I may be able to try a different park in the chain and see what I can get. Or if that doesn't work I think I may try a different chain (I hear Universal is hiring).

But what I meant was that even if someone had a similar situation, it can still be very different.
If someone on here tells you they had the SAME exact problem you did, and when they reapplied were told “No-Rehire”, you might be in a different boat because that person may have other reasons as to them being a “No-Rehire”.
~Example~
Two employees who quit after Labor Day weekend for school.
Teenager #1 is told a No-Rehire (had to many points/lack of enthusiasm)
Teenager #2 is not a No-Rehire (outstanding employee/always on time)
Circumstances are the same, but the outcome could be different. Bottom line, Call your manager. Don't take our word for it.
If you were a good employee, chances are they will rehire you. I know a lot of people that quit in 2006 but were rehired in 2007. Be prepared to talk to your manager though. I know several people who quit so they wouldn't have to work weekends, who, throughout their rehire interview in 2007, were asked "now... we're not going to quit right before weekends start again, are we?" So, just be prepared to listen to their side of the argument and fight for it a little too, I guess is what I'm saying.

What you have to remember is that even though leaving was the right decision for you, it was a bad decision in the eyes of CP. Weekends are a critical time when all employees are needed and quitting at that time leaves a sour taste in managements mouth. The first question will obviously be what about weekends in 2008? Are you going to quit again?
i can understand your position, back when i worked at cedar point in 2004 as a games host, i left the park without notice because my fiance was sick and of course she's more important. and i tried to apply the next summer and it said i had a "non-rehire status" and until this day it still states a non-rehire status when i tried to apply. i would love to work at the park again, but not as a games host because alot of the times they over-scheduled people and we barely got 4 hours or some days i didn't work at all and i was highly upset that i left my home for the summer to come down to sandusky and barely work

Well if someone who quit suddenly in 2006 can come back and be promoted to ATL, then anything is possible.

Probably not your typical experience, but I worked there around 2002. I started in May, worked there for about three weeks until I found a better job and then left after telling my blue tag in no uncertain terms where he could put his service, safety, cleanliness, courtesy and the integrity that holds them all together.
I even kept my badge, uniform and stuff when I bugged out. I figured I'd never go back there.
Imagine my surprise in September when I recieved a small bonus cheque in the post, telling me that they appreciated my work and hoped to see me next season!
Someone goofed, eh??
That is pretty funny you would still get a bonus check and a letter of appriciation.. lol

Hello all,
Everybody on here seems to be on top of things and so willing to help, so I thought maybe one could help give a little insider information to ease my couriosity. Unfortunatly, when I was younger, I was put on the no-hire list, and since, have changed my whole attitude towards life and revamped my professional attributes. While remaining 100% respectful towards their hesitance, I would love to come work for Cedar Point and guarentee a night and day transformation.
I was told if I wanted back in, I needed to write a letter to the head of my previous department, so I did. I called back a week later to make sure they recieved my letter and was told he had sent the letter to HR. When I called HR, they told me that the head or HR would respond in some form of writing.
Is this a good or bad sign? Typically, when people go through this process, do they hear from the head of the department or the head of HR? Any other advice?
Thankyou in advance.
My friend worked in the foods department in 2009 and wanted to go back this season. He was put on the "no-hire" list and he was told to do the same thing: write a letter to your department. Well, we did that almost two months ago. We haven't heard anything back at all and he is still not able to apply. He didn't even want to go to the same department again.
