Recreation Center

There was a rec center that was supposed to be put in this yr for employees, has anyone heard an update?

Well supposedly it is going behind commons but that is all I have heard. It sure would be nice to have something like that though...I miss the jungle!

I think the new rec center will rock. When i was up there for hte party, i didnt see any construction around commons for the thing, i dont know.

well we just went to Damon's tonight and I saw the area behind Commons that I assume they would be using if that is where they are going to put it. It is plenty of room to build something like that. I just hope it really happens cause I think that would be a much needed addition to the employee benefits!

No kidding! We work such crazy hours that you really can only do recreational things in the park or on your days off! It definately is needed, I hope they get it for the upcoming season!

CP was supposed to put in a new rec center a couple of years ago. They even held "forums" to solicit suggestions from employees about what the rec should include. It was very rah-rah, positive, etc.

Somebody, I can't say who, decided employees didn't need a rec center when the world's best amusement park was at their disposal and nixed the project. Let's just say this someone doesn't have to answer to many.

Will it ever happen? Maybe the same year they sell the Magnum! (Does anyone remember to old rec near Breakers?)

They are building a Rec Center. Its on the webpage, and we were told at the CA meeting.

The old Rec center near breakers... How could I forget!!! This was the central meeting spot for the employees back in the early eighties. All intramurals were played right outside the rec, (volleyball & basketball) and the rec had pitchers of beer!

Tim, wasn't the old Rec center near breakers a bar for guests at one time? As a kid, I remember walking down a path from the midway, using the exit by the employee cafeteria, and passing a area that had an outdoor bar and dance floor. This was sometime during the mid to late sixties, before the park had a gate and the employee exit was used as a walkway for guests.
