MaXair is a snoozer

How dare you say that about my MaXair

Cedar Point Lifer, RideOp, Now Park Guest

2009 - ATL Raptor
2010 - TL Sweeps
2011 & 2012 - Area 3 Rides Supervisor

You know, I never realized that Wicked Twister is the tallest and fastest inverted roller coaster in the world until just yesterday. Craziness.

As for Maverick, it is totally a record breaker. Most LSM launches, with a mind-blowing TWO!!! I could be wrong though.

Hail to the Victors

Would they have had the record for the steepest drop if it were a few degrees steeper? I'm personally surprised they didn't go for it, being so close. On the other hand, maybe they thought they would be taking the record when they planned this out?

SFMM only has 15 coasters. Superman is not a coaster, and flashback has been SBNO forever.

What if CP built Skyhawk and Maverick as a (possible) prelude to a project 2008?

Isn't the horseshoe element a first of it's kind?

They had to get out of the record-breaking business eventually. So, what better time than now? Besides, CP is always leading the industry. I'm sure in a couple years, all the other parks will start putting in "fun" rides like Maverick. I think they did a great job designing this coaster and it will be just as enjoyable (maybe more) than TTD and WT. We will find out in May (or August). :)

New record for the most headaches from heads hitting keyboards.

The whole "New Direction" was moving AWAY from breaking records.

I understand that records are cool, and MF is still my favorite ride there, but please, let it rest on this one.

Tim, you made a great point. Cedar Point has always been an industry leader. With Maverick, they'll be leading other parks back to the "fun" factor, rather than just slapping up another ride to break a record. Sure, tallest and fastest are fun for some, but rides like Maverick will have a much broader appeal.

Are you ready for some serious side-windin'? I can't wait til May! :)

Its interesting some are calling this a "family ride." There is no way my mom, my grandma, and my grandpa are going to ride this ride with me.

Yeah its the first coaster with a horseshoe thing thats the only record though.

Let's Get Weird.

I think more people are going to be willing to ride this ride rather than Millennium, or Dragster, or even Magnum for that matter.

You wanna know what they could of done to break a record? Why couldn't they of built a drop that is 98 degress steep. That would of been a record breaker!!

I can't remember the last time Cedar Point built a roller coaster that wasn't the biggest and fastest something.

That would be 1999 with the addition of Woodstock Express ;) The only other major thrill ride addition in the last 20 years to not break some sort of record would be Iron Dragon in 1987.

I was disappointed when I read stats alone... but when the Cedar Point announcement came through at 3:30am, and I saw the pictures and videos, I am absolutely thrilled with their choice!!

I know I'll be in line opening day!!

If Superman is not a coaster, than why the heck should Wicked Twister be one? ;)

Check here for pictures.

Why do people get so worked up about an Aquatrax??? From these photos, I don't see what the big deal is about.

If Superman is a coaster, then demon drop is a coaster.

Very Good!
