here is what it says in the FAQ....
Is Maverick A World Record-Breaker?
Maverick itself will not break any world records. However, the focus of building Maverick was to create an all-around fun roller coaster. While all of Cedar Point’s rides deliver a different experience, Maverick will deliver one of the steepest drops on a roller coaster, fast-paced turns, eight “airtime” hills (where riders experience weightlessness), low-to-the-ground action and an exciting second launch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it will tie CP and Six Flags Magic Mountain with 17 coasters in one park.
Yes. Unless SFMM happens to remove Flashback between now and then (which is possible).

Close Mike. It will give Cedar Point the record for most operating coasters in one park. Tragic Mountain has never had all 17 running at the same time.

correct me if im wrong but wont Maverick have the steepest drop of any roller coaster in the US and the tallest beyond vertical roller coaster in the US?
Mark
Mystery Mine also has/will have a 95 degree drop. Tallest beyond vertical, maybe. But, that's grasping at straws I think.
Anyone who's looking for some kind of record is grasping for straws at this point. It's just like the people who are saying "Hey, I think I see a fountain in the animation, maybe it really is an aquatraxxx".
No records, except eternal proof that Cedar Point still DOES care about the family, regardless of how intimidating the other half of the park (my favorite part) is. I guess thats not a record though.
I do have one question. Throughout all of this, I have been frustrated by two things:
1. The insistense that a rollercoaster with water at Cedar Point is a good idea.
2. The name Aquatrax, which just sounds lame (come on, people can be more creative than that!)
Anyways, my point is I am still wondering what exactly an Aquatrax is. I've never heard of it before people started bantering about it here for the Project 2007/Maverick forum. Anyone want to show me a link to a picture of one? Thanks.
The AL Wildcard will come from the AL Central, and it wont be the Twins.

Thanks John, even if you are a Detroit fan. But I respect my assumtion that youve stuck with them through the thinnest years of their existence, so congrats that theyre doing so fine this year. Is South Korea the only place with this type of ride?

I think CP still claims the most coasters due to the MM Superman debate (I personally think its a freefall ride, not a coaster).

Its not Superman which is up for debate as far as overall coaster counts go. Its Flashback since it hasn't operated in years.
And then there was the while where X wasn't operable, the rather extensive downtime for Deja Vu...so many instances to name, so little time, because I need some sleep. But yes, Flashback is the main debate at this point in time.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

This ride doesn't look like it belongs in Kiddie Kingdom. I hope it is going to be just as thrilling as the other large rides. I will see for myself next year though. As most of us will. We should't talk about the experience before anyone has actually had the experience.
This is what suprised me most about Maverick. I was sure it would break some kind of record. Even if it was the tiniest, most unimportant record, I was sure Cedar Point would strech for it. I can't remember the last time Cedar Point built a roller coaster that wasn't the biggest and fastest something. Even maXair had to be the biggest by 3ft. Am I dissapointed? No, I still think it will be a great ride even if doesn't break records. Records don't make good roller coasters. I only thought from a marketing standpoint, Cedar Point would build the ________est type of roller coaster ever.
