Recently moved or discontinued rides.

What rides have recently been either moved from their original location or have been torn down altogether? I haven't been to Cedar Point in about a decade, and I was wondering what I''m gonna miss.

So far, all I can think of are:

Moved rides:
- Avalanche Run Bobsleds (converted to Disaster Transport)
- Giant Wheel (moved from Frontiertown to Disaster Transport area to make room for Millennium Force)
- Troika (moved to Disaster Transport area to make room for Top Thrill Dragster)

RIP:
- Berenstein Bear Country (remember this?? This was the most unintentionally funny thing at Cedar Point. It was SO STUPID!! I don't know what's there now.)
- Schwabinchen
- White Water Landing

I know I've got to be missing some more. What else is there?

The giant tree is still there. I took my nephew last week who is 47.5" (DOH!) and he wanted to go in that kids area. Anyway he climbed the steps to the tree and it turned out to be a slide. I was to old to do anything there when it was BBC so I don't know it it was always a slide or not. The rest of the area in there is like a kids playground.

Chaos was moved to where Schwabinchen was.

CP&LE RR has been rerouted many times over.

The RIP list is nearly endless. Go to the point during halloweekends to see the "ride graveyard"

There is some site that has it, but I forgot the site. I do know that there were a couple of rides that were at CP:

Cyclone - The Coney Island clone
Wild Mouse - Not the one that is at MiA
Monorail -Think current location of MF and Thunder Canyon
Wildcat - 1970 version, later moved to Valleyfair, renamed
Hofbrau - not a ride, but is gone now
Second Dodgem - Where TTD is now, relocated to MiA
Mill Race- Current location of Raptor
Swan Boats- relocated to MiA

Well, there a ton more, but keep looking for the list.

Mmm. Cabin 8 of the Sky Ride.

There was nothing stupid about BBC when I played there.

I miss the big potato sack slide thingy. I think it was removed to put in Berenstein Bear land, but I don't even remember what it was called. But man, that was FUN!!

Sky Slide. Yes, I miss that one dearly as well. I believe it was near Kid Arthur's Court, if memory serves.

EDIT
"Slide", not "Ride". Duh. :)

ADDED

1991
• Final season for Sky Slide

1992
• An expanded Berenstain Bear Country opens on the site of the former Sky Slide and Cedar Classic Miniature Gol (May 9)

What about Rotor with a good sunburn. And another one of my favorites was Bayern Curve.

The monorail was up by the Blue Streak and left shortly after Blue Streak was built.

I thought to monorail was removed *for* the Blue Streak, as it occupies roughly the same footprint.

I'm no history expert (especially since I didn't live through it) but I'm pretty sure I've seen a picture of the Monorail and Blue Streak co-existing. I could be wrong though...

I really liked the Sky Slide. I remember that there was a mini-golf course near it... with miniature versions of some of the rides (the mini Demon Drop was my personal favorite).

Hey Walt! That History section is a little behind ... say a couple of years. ;) Still a great section though.

Edit - Your Virtual Midway link is dead.

Yes, I remember that too, whatever happened to that "mini Demon Drop?" I remember that the "pullout" track went into the ground.
By the way, the Berenstein Bear Country "tree" used to have an inflatable "tree" on the top but now just the base is left, correct? I'm sure for trademark reasons.

No, the area near the turnaround on Blue Streak where both sides are very low was where the monorail went over the ride and came back, there should be a picture of it somewhere here at pointbuzz, there was one on Walt's old site.

Does anyone have a pic of the "mini Demon Drop"? I can't say I remember this ride. I remember the inflatable trees though. ha ha ha!! Sadly I was too old to use that part of the park when it opened. I liked the slide better. :)
