How can we find out if we'll be re-hired next year? This past season was my 1st year, in foods. There was one major incident that got me 11 points, but mostly it was a misunderstanding. I was bronze certified, and I did recieve my bonus. So, will I be re-hired next year? How likely would it be for me to change departments?
They called me in Feb of 04 to see if I wanted to come back to work for the summer season. So I would say after the First of the year.

What is the max number of points you can get before you get booted? And what kinds of things do you get points for?

Unless they changed it since I was there, the maxiumum number of points is 16. Generally, depending on the severity of the "offense" it goes from 1-3. There is a whole laundry list of offenses, but the main ones are being late, skipping work, or calling off without a doctor's excuse. But even if you get that many points, if you are on good enough terms with your manager they might give you a second chance.
You also have the ability to "work off" points by working extra hours.
You can be fired with 16 point. The key word there is CAN. If it is in the middle of the season and you get your 16 points for whatever reason, they will probably fire you. But say it is at the end of the season, and they are short staffed, then you will probably not be fired. That isn't to say it won't happen. I know from other people who have worked at CP who have had 16 points and still worked. There points were mostly for attendence, being on time for work, things like that.
Points are all about attendence. Anyone who has worked a job before knows that being on time is the most important thing to a job. And it's a shame that more kids don't understand it. The excuse of the traffic was bad or the bus was late used to make me laugh. I'm sorry to be rude, but in the real world you have to expect things like that.
A good employee will bother thier Area supervisor til all of thier points are gone. YOU DON'T WANT THEM.
As far as re-hire status, there is a line (I think it's over 8 points) That requires approval for you to be rehired. Conditional re-hires do happen. If you got your bonus, you must have left on good terms. As far as changing departments, Foods will see your application first if you apply. But if they pass on it, other departments can look at it. It's worth a shot.

Nobody under the age of 25 seems to understand the concept of being on time to a job. It's a shame, really.
- Ben, who was never late not even once.

I was never late either, with the exception of one time where I physically couldn't get down the causeway in enough time due to a MASSIVE storm.
