Was estatic when I saw what a beautiful day it was, looking forward to (yet dreading) closing day. Arrived at CP at 11:30. Headed right for Raptor (yes I know-gasp) Noticed a noise before the invert and even saw the crack on the rail! Got 2 solo rides in before seeing Tyler, and Coast. Coast really made my day, calling me a "legend", telling his Mom I was Raptor Jo and he was actually excited about riding with me! It was shortly after my 4th ride my PIC and bestest coaster bud ever, Hooper arrived. (Yes Erik, thats Hooper NOT Hopper! :))
He needed 17 laps for his 500th lifetime ride so of course that was our a.m. goal. I immediately pointed out to Hooper to "listen" for something "strange" before the invert, his face when he heard the noise was PRICELESS! It seems Raptor's boo boo wasn't 100% fixed. We ended up seeing Jeff (our webmaster) and his wife Stephanie (nice jacket Jeff!) and pointed out for them to listen for a noise too on the left hand side of the train. Apparently by Jeff's t/r he too heard the famous "thunk". Hooper and I also met BirdofPrey00. The scariest thing that happened was some young kid decided to cross the platform when the floor was dropping-I SCREAMED "hold" and the floor stopped. My heart was pounding because I do not believe I heard any of the other ops (or should I say ride prides) say hold. Scard me to death! By lap 16 a bunch of GTTP'ers had gathered (Rob, Anne, Brian, Kick the Sky, Robodud, and others-cant remember-sorry) and they all joined us for Hoopers 500th ride. When we finished that lap, they all went down the stairs, I had Hooper take a pic of me and Chris (one of my fav ride ops) after we were done I noticed 2 empty seats in the back row so told Hooper just to sit back down. We did-Chris turned around and said "now wait one minute!" and when the GTTP'ers all stopped on the stairs and saw us sitting again to ride they laughed! Reride?? What reride? ;)
:) Congrats on your 500 Matt, so glad I was able to join you for that as you were there for mine :)
For those of you keeping count-I had done my bird of prey 21x that morning! :) :)
Time for the Gemini 100 reunion. We all headed to Gemini (with its brand new "Talon" paint job) there we met up with Freaky and his wife, Joe E, Dan and Mindy, Magnum is Sinking, Coast again and Im sure Im forgetting some again-sorry! Thanks to Rob, despite only 2 red trains running, he managed to get 21 of us on the same train together. Frankie was on controls and he even stacked for us! He told everyone that we had all rode that ride 100x in one day. Pretending to slap hands with the Banshee blue train was fun, no trims was fun too, even though made the helix extra brutal. We all screamed "ONE!" when we got back to the station and cheered like crazy! That was classic and I cant wait to get the pics back of all of us at entrance. Frankie was awesome, thanking us for making his ride seem like fun. We all did a Maggie run then Hooper and I headed to the PR office to visit. That was fun, talking to some other enthusiasts, and Mr Edwards. Hearing some more Mr Skyward spotting stories, and just basically relaxing for a while. For dinner Hooper and I had an elephant ear and popcorn (yummy) then headed to DT (as only WE can ride DT) and he made me go on the giant wheel. What the heck was THAT noise????? After putting on some more clothes we headed to MF for a couple more laps, then Mantis. Hooper didn't like the lack of trims, but I did! Off to Maggie. We rode Maggie with Dan and Mindy I think 5 or 6x. We ended up seeing Robin Innis, his wife and daughter getting in the next train. Hooper said to him "you rode with me 5x during Coastermania!" Mr Innis said "I was wondering when I would see yous" I told him his daughter was beautiful, and told his wife to keep an eye on him and be sure he keeps his hands down the whole ride. Mr Innis was so much fun to ride with during Coastermania this year, and last year on Mantis too! No more Maggie for us, Hooper and I decided to had to ride Raptors last gp train so headed back to front of park. We ended up seeing Mr Kinzel with 2 other gentlemen so of course I stopped and said hi, and yes, he still remembered who I was, even introducing me to the other men, telling them I was in the paper and why. Mr Kinzel still remembers me!! :) Ok-head back to normal size, Hooper and I hit up BS one last time, then to our fav bird of prey. Low and behold Mr Skyward was sitting in front, so I grabbed him and told him he needed to ride with us. Hooper and I got to ride with Mr Skyward! We let him have seat 8-1, and Hooper again took a classic pic with him. After the ride however Mr Skyward decided to get "touchy touchy" with me, Hooper must have noticed the panic in my eyes, cause he grabbed me away from him. Lucky for us after a time check, he wandered off, never to be seen by us again. We rode 1 more lap, then even waited for the front car, Stood by entrance waiting for the "close entrance off" call. Raptor Dave and his g/f were there, Dave calling me a traitor since he heard I liked Talon better than Raptor. Last train of the season for the gp-how depressing!! It seemed the most intense ride EVER, Hooper and I screaming the whole time, the whole train screaming in the station. I hugged the ops goodbye, and watched the crew do their last ride of the season together. Reminded me of last season when I was part of the crew too, taking that same ride. Hooper and I walked over to Maggie to see the GTTP'ers one more time, then to MF to say goodbye to that crew. Then it was finally time to say goodbye to my PIC till next season. I drove out of the parking lot for the last time with a heavy heart, this year had been my BEST year EVER for me at CP and I hated to see it come to an end! :( I found myself smiling on my long drive home thinking of some of the visits this season, memories I will forever treasure! I am very lucky to have the bestest coaster bud ever in my PIC Matt. Our friendship is a very strong one, and the Raptor bond we share is a very strong one too. I am so thankful to all the CP friends I have. The PR people, the crews, the silver tags, but especially the GTTP'ers. Our love and devotion to our park is one thing we all share. Thank you for letting me a part of that for over 3 years now and for making me feel so loved and famous! I love you all and will miss you all this winter!
