Raptor Jo & kid take on CP 5-14

In a spur of the moment decision my youngest daughter Samantha and I headed to the Po!nt yesterday and it ended up being one of the best trips ever. Sam hasn’t gone with me since ‘01, so I knew she was going to have a great time. When she saw TTD from First St her reaction was "Holy C Mom!" (oddly enough the exact same reaction from my 20 year old 2 weeks ago, oh, and mine too back in February! ;)) Upon arriving we noticed the "TTD will may be open later today" signs, immediately bringing back ‘00 MF memories. Later on we found out it was due to a commercial/photo shoot-no biggie. I waited it the regular tickets line with Sam, and at first was kind of disappointed and surprised at all the people there appeared to be-that would also turn out to be no biggie.

Gates open, off to Raptor we head. I only knew one ride op there (although by days end they all knew who I was! :)) and Sam freaked when she heard my name over the loud speaker! No block brake, Raptor flying, one more flight after that then off to WT. Waited for the back (of course) and when we 1st took off Sam screamed like a Banshee! I actually thought for one second she was crying. We got off it and she just LOVED it! We ended up getting right back in line and riding it again. From there she and I leisurely took on the entire park. We freeway’d for MF 7-8. There was nothing that we did not ride (except for MS, running yes, desire to ride it? Nope, not by either one of us) Our day was filled with seeing CP employees I know or who know me, after a while Sam seemed to really enjoy the fact that it appeared her Mom was some sort of celebrity there. Especially when I could walk up to this important looking men in suits and them knowing me too. Funniest was Gemini when their tl asked the op if he knew who I was, he said "yea thet’s Raptor Jo, of course I do" then when the train was pulling out of the station she said "everyone wave at Raptor Jo!" When the train got back into the station the op said "thank you for riding Gemini don’t forget to ride Raptor!" Then hearing "welcome back Raptor riders and Raptor Jo, how was your flight?" when I rode Raptor!! :)
We finally broke for lunch when TTD finally opened, after lunch hit up Mantis. This ended up being our longest wait for any ride all day (1 hour) every time getting stacked, thanks to the guests, and every other train being called for a "hold" thanks to someone undoing their seat belt. With every guest that makes working at CP so awesome for me, there is that one imbecile that has to be a show off or NOT listen to "do NOT touch your seatbelt once it is fastened" or any other rule or instruction :(
It was shortly there after we decided to head for TTD. Thanks to front of the line passes, she and I headed into the next train, front car. OMG as soon as I sat down the adrenaline was pumping, my heart was literally pounding out of my chest and I was trying not to hyperventilate. Sam looked terrified, which didn’t help her Mom relax any! Even though I had already ridden TTD 5x before the anticipation is a KILLER! When we pulled into the launch and I saw the brakes drop I died. We took off and I swear it is still one of the most intense sensations ever! WOW! You get that microsecond pause at the top of the hill where you are staring down on Paddlewheel Excurions’s water, then across the finish line. WOW again! Sam LOVED it!! She asked me when we got done "what the h just happened??" Telling me she could feel her cheeks flapping in the wind. I was shaking so bad the ride op (who I know) helped me out, I hugged him, and Sam and I went in and checked out our picture. Now, anyone who knows me knows the ONLY on ride photos I will even consider buying are: A) the ones where my PIC Matt and I are doing something bazaar B) The ones I’m riding with Mr Skyward C) Raptor ones that I’ve hit another 100th ride mark. But THIS picture of Sam and I we just HAD to have. After asking they got both of us in the same picture and I threw down a 20.00 bill (yikes!) Sam took her pic to school with her today to show it off. Yes, that’s right, my Mom kept me out of school yesterday so she and I could go to CP. TTD for ME-none for YOU! :) Kind of contradicts the letter I wrote to the school saying she was sick, don’t ya think? ;) The finish line picture is hilarious, my jacket is desperately trying to fly off me, and my Raptor shirt (a collectable from ‘94 btw) is totally visible and glued against me. As for Sam her hands are straight up in both pictures and you could see was totally screaming, I will be taking my picture with me to work tonight to show everyone there was a freak my daughter AND I both are! :) We went back to Gemini once more then headed back to Raptor to kill time before our MF freeway. By this time Raptor was a walk on so as you can imagine it was VERY hard for Sam to tear me away from it, I was chomping at the bit to power ride. We even got a sort of reride which was too cool too. We managed 4 more flights then to MF we went. Much to my surprise (NOT) we saw Tony in line. Blue train, and I could have slapped Sam, we were going up the 1st hill and I showed her how much space I had between the lap bar, she reached over and said "Mom-are you crazy?" and pushed the bar down!! OMG!!! I was PISSED! Stapled by my own daughter!!! OK ride...kind of non eventful for me, especially after TTD, and my heart belongs to Raptor (sorry Tony) We then headed back to Raptor for one more flight, I hugged the ops I knew there and back home we headed shortly before park closed for the night.
What an absolutely awesome day for us both! The only drama was when I checked my cell phone voice mail messages before lunch there were 2 urgent messages from my barn that my broodmare (who is due in June with potential 20k prospect) was possibly colicing. I freaked, Sam and I jumped into the truck and was heading home when I started calling everyone back. Turns out it wasn’t colic, she and her baby is fine. Phew! So knowing everything was under control, simply turned back around and headed back to the Po!nt. What a scare THAT was! Sam admitted to me she was very worried about the horse and the baby but was very disappointed when she thought she wasn’t going to beable to ride TTD. As for me, there’s yet one more freaking vet bill! :(
The fashion police were obviously off duty yesterday, maybe someone can explain to me why over weight females think it is sexy to wear low rider pants, and cropped shirts? Is the "thing" this year to show your flab? Blech! Sam said most of the girls in school dress like that too. Not my kid!
The weather was OUTSTANDING all day-not too hot, not too cold. The high point of the day was simply spending so much time solo with my kid. I don’t get alot of time to do that since her social life keeps her pretty busy. She told me several times she had a ball. Also admitting to me she thought it was kind of cool how so many people knew me :) As a parent sometimes you wonder wth you were thinking having kids (especially when they hit teenagers as Sam is now) but having spent the entire day with Sam, despite the aggravation and heartache your kids some time give you, and the non-stop worry, I wouldn’t trade it for the world :)
So here is our final tally for this trip:

WT: 2
MF: 1
Gemini: 2
CCMR: 1
BS: 1
TTD: 1
DT: 2
Raptor: 6 :)

NO Mr Skyward sightings :(

I love my kid, I love my Raptor and I love CP! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

Ah, bugger, you were there yesterday? I would have loved to take a spin on Raptor with you. Of course we might have had to fight for the back-right seat. :)

I must say it was busier than I expected it to be. I waited an hour for MF. Boy, have I been spoiled with the near walk-ons in September when I usually go. :)

I agree about the fashion police being off work on Wednesday. My daughter may dress all in black and be a bit freakish looking, but at least her skin is covered!

Jo,

It was good seeing you yesterday, but I wish that it would have been earlier in the day, so we could have hung out for A while. I looked for you after I got off of Millennium Force, but did not see you, so I went and rode Banshee I mean Mantis then got in line for TTD. By the way I had Red train on MF and plenty of room to get plenty of air! Here's my ride count for yesterday.

MF-2

WT-1

Raptor-2

BS-1

Magnum-1(Saw Magnum Dan working Magnum)

TTD-2

Banshee/Mantis-1

Launch that sucker...Yeah!

And to think I was there Tuesday night the day before. I don't know why the mid-course trims are off on Raptor (maybe due to the new wheels) but I'll take it, Raptor is kicking booty this year.

Jo, stapled by your own daughter...."And one time on MF, my daughter stapled me".

"This second hill is my favorite part of the ride. It is so Cool!"
I almost got stuck on MF

Ahhh, so that was Dan working Magnum. I thought it was him, but he looked so much bigger. 'course the only time I've ever seen him was on tv so naturally he was bigger in person. :)

Jo, were you stapled, or pinched? :) Glad you and Sam got to spend some quality time together, I'm sure she knows what a great mom you are. I've learned the same thing over the past few years, the way you always take care of me. :) I'm ready for another trip. Maybe it will rain down here Sunday, give me an excuse to head up, since the track will be closed. :)

Oops I guess I didn't Dan-sorry about that. If I recall correctly I ALWAYS said hi to you over the loudspeaker when I was on spiels on Raptor, or on controls so you owe me! ;)
I know how awesome it is to ride your baby but NOTHING can ever compare to running it! Right? :)

Addition to my tr:
When Sam and I rode Magnum we got to see Magnum Dan working and doing spiels. He looks right at home in the Dominos Pizza uniform-almost makes me wish I could afford to work there all season! :)
