If I missed the topic somewhere I apologize, it says on the Cedar Point website that Raptor is down for today anyone heard why?
Yes, I think it valleyd. There was a crane right by the cobra roll when I was leaving 2 hours ago.

1 Maverick rollback
Its when the train does not have enough energy to complete the course and rolls back. In the case of Raptor and many non launch coasters, the train gets stuck in a certain part of the ride and has to be taken off the track by crane and put back on the track in the transfer area.
Does anyone think that Raptor will be up and running tommorow? Or how long does it take? Cause I have a friend going to the park tommorow and they were hoping to ride Raptor.

Was it overly windy today? I know if the winds are strong off the bay, Raptor has been known to valley before the mid-course brakes. I know it valleyed when I was there on the last day of the operating season 2 or 3 years ago during morning test runs.....and it was very windy (and cold) that day too.
Today I saw the crane and the guys working on the lift hill when my family was going to SOAK CITY around 10:45 a.m., and when I came in CP I saw them still working on the lift hill at 1:30pm
Thanks StealthPirate. You learn something new every day. :)
That sucks that everytime it valleys they have to remove the train with a crane. I bet people who didn't know what was going on and saw that probably thought that one of their favorite coasters was being torn down. lol.
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
ok I just wasn't saying the right words. Did you ever know that the Raptor was going to be built where the Mantis is now. There wasn't enough land for the Coaster. My friend was working with Dick and he knew many things and told me.
I can't imagine it taking too long to get back up and running. Were there riders on it when it valleyed?
Can we even confirm that it valleyed, or are we just taking one person's thought and running with it?
Last year Raptor's valleying was a huge deal, so I think we would have heard more about it than one person saying I think it valleyed..
If they were working on the lift hill, logically I would think the lift is the problem, not the train valleying.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I was leaving on perimeter drive thursday morning around 11 and a cable was strung from the bottom of the chain lift to the back of a maintenance truck...looks like they're probably changing out the lift chain, as it was down for most of wednesday evening as well. Also, i definately would have noticed a valleyed train sitting mid ride as i walked past a couple times during the down time. NO VALLEY!
Wasn't it down for a week and 1/2 last year? I believe it was the week before HW started. I believe that was due to a lift chain problem too.
