Raptor Clone

Yea, money.

There really is no such thing as a "clone" in the sense many of you may be thinking of. Yes, the track design is very similar, but the supports, break runs, stations, pre-lift track, and even some of the transitions have probably been altered for the specific site. You can't just plop down a coaster like in Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Have a nice day!

Obviously you haven't ridden alot of Vekoma's other than the ones at SFWoA. ;)

Mind Eraser and Serial Thriller have clones at various parks. Down to the placement of footers.

Same goes with alot of the Batman B&M Inverts.

Batman the Ride was the first inverted coaster in the U.S., but Raptor was the first inverted coaster long enough to use three trains, whereas Batman uses two. Something that's sure to help capacity.
Learn something new everyday.

Could Rodman be the Mole???

Sigh, Rob. You and I aren't getting off to a good start, are we? Vekoma SLC's:

T2: 2,170' long, 98' tall.

El Condor: 2,171'11" long, 101'8" tall.

Top Gun: 2260'6" long, 109'3" tall.

Mind Eraser (SFEG) 2,172' long, 100' tall.

Mind Eraser (SFA), Kong & Great Nor'Easter: 2170' long, 115' tall.

Lethal Weapon: The Ride: 2510' long, 109'4" tall.

Pusing Lagi: 2582' long, 101'8" tall.

Serial Thriller: 2,037' long, 120' tall.

Well anyway I could go on, but you get what I'm saying don't you? I mean according to you T2 is the exact same as Serial Thriller, but I can find two sources that say one ride is 22 feet taller.

A few feet here and there doesn't rule out it being a clone.

I'm not going to get into the argument with you but I find it funny that the PLC coding for almost all the SLC's is almost identical.
When you look at B&M's, each invert's or floorless' PLC code is different from the next.

And don't get me started on the DD code.. Right Brian?? ;)

I think what you're saying is that the ride is nearly identical in terms of layout and operation, and what I'm saying is that to some extent the coaster is adapted for it's location by makinging some small profile changes. I do not disagree that all the installations are intended to deliver the same ride experience.

So you're arguing semantics, then. The SLC's are all clones of each other, in that they have the same elements in the same order and give the same experience. Slight tweaks happen for each installation, but I don't think anyone would argue that (for instance) Serial Thriller at SFWoA and Mind Eraser at SFA AREN'T the same ride.

The same goes for the various B&M Batman rides, and, I expect, Raptor and Orichi.

I wouldn't argue that either. Same "ride", sure. I just personally wouldn't call them "clones" if I were trying to be as specific as possible.

Um, Jes, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... They may not be clones in a Dolly-the-sheep way, but they're certainly clones in that they're not unique designs. If you don't like the term "clone" how about "cookie cutter" -- same stamp, but each one may come out slightly different in baking.

Like I said, you're arguing semantics. That's fine, but most people generally accept that rides like SLC's and boomerangs ARE "clones".
