Raptor and Maverick and HAIL! Oh My!

But would you say that they are more common than coming around every 30 years or so?

I think the average is somewhere around 1 every 2 years. I would have to do the math (MATH IS HARD)

Yeah and on Twister they were all supposed to be storm chasers, yet only one of them had seen an F5 or "the finger of god". lol.

Those were some creepy pictures and videos though. That is why I do not like tornadoes. T-storms I can handle. But whenever there is even a tornado watch I get weary. I don't know how you do it Ben.

Must be my brass balls.

GFS is looking good for Tuesday! It's been a few weeks since we've had a good storm....

Gah... you are telling me Ben! You may have a good outlook in the GFS, but I am not seeing any real severe chances for our area (IWX) for the next 7 days... perhaps just some heavy rain, but I'm not even seeing much model support for that either. We have not had much of a severe weather season here yet. We had one good hail event on the north side of town, but not much else...

I often feel bad for rooting for severe storms. I certainly don't want to see life or property damaged, but there is just something so amazing watching them, and being in the middle of them ;)

^^ - yeah, well the last one that I remember over here (Father's Day weekend) I was camping between Ludington and Manistee. Pretty much right where the center of the storm made landfall.

THAT SUCKED.

The last big event for MI (Well, GRR/DTX CWA) was on July 2nd. 12Z NAM slowed things down a bit for tomorrow, so who knows. I'm starting to not be so hopeful.

I don't really remember anything on the 2nd. Of course, being in a tent (well, trying to, thankfully my parents were up with their camper) kinda sets things in your mind. That and waking up to one camp loop flooded and the road OUT of camp washed out so you have to wait for a bridge to be put in.

That was a fun weekend.

July 2nd we had a few rounds of storms including a lot of hail. The events you are talking about were before that, but fun nonetheless.

^ - now I remember the 2nd. I tried to sneak out of work between storms and got caught on the expressway with about 20 feet of visibility and heavy crosswinds. I did get to see a tree fall while I was driving, so it wasn't a complete loss.

That's the day where I ended up in Allegan County on some back roads (read: tire tracks) after they had 2 or 3 storms go through. It wasn't fun, but my truck can make it through 3 1/2 feet of water no problem.

The flooding after that storm wasn't as bad as the flooding we had the first 2 weekends in June. It wasn't quite as widespread.
