Random acts of Kindness at Cedar Point.

Jesz's avatar

My friend and I had a $5 bill on us, and wanted to buy an elephant ear last time we were at Cedar Point. When we bought it, it was $5.36 I believe, and we only had the $5 on us. The woman behind us heard we didn't have enough money and borrowed us the $0.36.

The next day we bought another Elephant ear, and we only had $6 on us. I didn't have any pockets, and had no place to put my change. So I told the cashier the story from the night before, and asked him to keep the change. I told him that if anyone ended up in the situation we were, to give them the change so they could purchase their elephant ear.

It's a long shot, but I hope it helped someone. :)

Right. They had no proof, aside from the 3 (or more) other times he lost/stole money from his register.

A lady had won a stuffed animal at a game and decided that she didn't want to carry it around the park, so she asked my 5 year old daughter if she wanted it. Talk about making a kids day!

Speaking of acts of kindness/rudeness, I have a "rudeness" story situiation that I almost encounter every time when at the point:

Pretty much every time I get in a conflict with people who don't move out of the way while they stand in the midway like they own the place. And 90% of the time those people are young girls about my age, like 18-22 years old. They take up the entire midway by just STANDING THERE while major foot traffic, including myself, attempt to pass them. They will will gaze at you like you have 3 heads, They think their hot, they think their cute, and they think they own the park. Well, they don't. They are just like any other person at CP. I have pushed some out of my way before and they "yipe" and fall back. They stand and gab all day in the midway as others trip over their junk while they are the ones who need to fall on their faces.

Don't expect to get an act of kindness from them......

And usually these are the girls that are 300 pounds and wearing a bikini. By far the biggest thing I don't like at CP. And they are EVERYWHERE. Do they not have a full legnth mirror?

Miss Maverick - the only annoyance I see in that situation, and the one who's going about acting like they own the place, is you.

I'm sorry, but its an amusement park. People go to relax, and get away from every day life. The pavement on the midway is just as much theirs to stand on, as it is yours to run all over. I don't care who you are, if you push me out of "your way" while I'm trying to enjoy my day, and especially if you did it hard enough to knock me or someone with me over, it would get ugly, and it would get ugly very quickly.

Back down off the CP high horse for a bit, and realize that when you go out in public, you're not the only one there.

^ Really?! I think they can at least stand to the side or gather around a bench. With the exception of the obvious picture taking, just standing in the MIDDLE of midway is damn annoying. I never notice a certain demographic doing it, but really, the midways at Cedar Point are not exactly 4 lane highways.

Most likely, they were standing on the side. When one has a sense of "coaster entitlement", the whole damn midway is the middle to them. Not to mention, knocking people over? Come on - it's just as bad as single rider Bob.

^agreed, knocking people over is pretty outlandish. But there does seem to be a lot of gatherings in places there should not be. The front of TTD's seems to be the worst lately. Its cool to hang out and wait, but step aside from the actual entrance. On any given day you can watch/hear the entrance staff get on the PA and ask people to clear out. Of course they are so caught up in whatever they are doing to not hear the PA, they don't move and you have to wade through to get in line.

I've never been to CP (on a day where the park wasn't dead) and not encountered at least 2 groups who, while walking down the middle of the midway, will stop to look at a map/coaster/neon-green-spandex-wearing redneck, without a care as to anything else around them. Is it terribly rude and ignorant? Sure. Do they mean to be terribly rude and ignorant? I doubt it, and as such, I also doubt they deserve to be knocked over - most of the time, it seems to be people unfamiliar not only with CP, but with amusement/theme parks in general.

What irritates me more are groups of, say, 6 or more people who absolutely, positively refuse to walk in anything but a side-by-side-by-side-by-side-by-side-by-side formation. They'll walk through families, even those with strollers and such. Those are the bastards that need a good ol' American ground-shovin'.

Me and my son get into what we call -CEDAR POINT MODE-.

My wife can't keep up with us, my daughter pretty much can.

We can navagate the murky overcrowded midway with ease. Dodge left, scoot right. Around the side-by-side-by-side-by-side group of people.

If a group stops in front of us, it takes nothing to stop slide to the side and go around them.

So anyways, people grouping anywhere really don't bother me, I guess its their vacation too. In the end two people walking as fast as they can dodging people may even be more annoying to them, as the groups are to us. :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

My random act of kindness was a couple weeks ago at Magnum. A father and son was in line for the front row, I was in the second. When the train we were to load into stopped in the station, a little boy in the 3rd seat on that train was excitedly talking to "dad" waiting to board.

Apparently they hadn't "counted" properly so the little boy's first ride on Magnum was without his father and brother. Since I was riding alone in the second seat, I grabbed the boy as he exited and told him to sit next to me. He got a second ride in a row and with his father and brother in front of us.

He, and his father, were so happy.

We were in the station for Mille. We were 2 trains away from getting to ride when the people in front of us were told they weren't allowed to ride because one of them had a drawstring bag. This guy was shocked after he just waited an hour and 1/2. They were ushering him to the exit gate when I yelled at him and told him I would hold his bag and wait for him to get off the ride and give it back to him.

I let a group go in front of me so I could wait for this guy. We were in backrow so it wasn't hard to give it back to him. After he rode he got off the train and I tossed his bag to him while he was on the unload platform. He said thanks and went on his way. Then I rode and had fun.

End of story. :)

Typically if a bag comes up to the load station, the rider can take the bag down the exit, put it in a locker, and then come back up the exit and ride. They don't have to wait in line again.

While waiting for maverick I was getting my phone out of my pocket and dropped a dime. A girl behind me in line picked it up and handed it to me. It was only a dime but it was still a nice thing to do. The same day while walking down the midway a family had one of the lightsaber sword things fall out of their stroller. I picked it up and handed it to them.

I was just looking and I saw this post. This is my thought. Yes, girls that stand in the middle of foot traffic can be annoying, but people that PUSH other people because of that shouldnt even be allowed to go to amusement parks. If something that small will make you do that then thats pretty childish. Those kind of people with the short temper can ruin someones day at CP. How hard is it to nicely come up to the person and say "Excuse me, would you mind moving out of the foot traffic. Thanks!" Its that simple. Theres no need to shove anyone and also, if that person reported you to CP security, you could get kicked out. So I guess what Im saying is theres no need at all to push someone just because theyre in your way. Everyone goes to CP for one reason, to have fun! Pushing someone to knock them over can ruin their fun so be considerate next time even if theyre not. Have a good day =)

What if I find pushing people to be fun?

Then make a shirt with large print that says "I push people and you're in my way". That should get the message out pretty nicely.:)

At KI two nights ago, I went on The Crypt, and a kid asked me 10 questions while riding, and I got 9 right. He proceeded to give me a $15 gift card to McDonlads. That was sweet!
