Quick Visit 7/23

A spur of the moment trip. The kids and I donned our swim gear and left the house for Cedar Point around 5 pm. Parked at Soak City, just after 6. Dragster H2O is pretty good! At 220-ish, I was easily the first to splash down. We did a couple of slides, then a lap on each lazy river. Entered Cedar Point just after 8, dinner time. My oldest son headed to Coasters, I got the Macho Nacho, my middle son wasn't too hungry, and had the 2 free tacos, and my daughter got the meatball sub combo at Gristmill. (LOVE the Platinum Pass deals!) Since this was a last minute trip, we didn't want to wait the 45 minutes +/- for the big 3, we met up and walked on Iron Dragon, Blue Streak, waited one train for Raptor, and gave final farewells to Avalanche Run...Oops, Disaster Transport. We backtracked to see Luminosity in passing. The place is like a non-stop party. Walked through Frontier Trail, and passed up Gemini, only because it was almost 10 pm, and we wanted to finish the night on Magnum. I've ridden Magnum hundreds of times, but tonight's ride was amazing. The first time was in '89, and I cherish that memory, but tonight's ride rivals that. Climbing to the top, the fireworks from Luminosity were starting. As usual, Magnum was excellent, and I had forgotten was a great ride it is at night. Sitting in the train at the end run, we had a perfect view of the fireworks. My daughter was in awe. I love being just an hour away from the best park in the world! I'm fortunate to have Ride Warrior kids!
PS, I'm taking my oldest son to Athens for a tour of Ohio University Tuesday, and will heading over to Kings Island Tuesday night thru Friday. This will be my first trip to KI since 1980. Any tips from KI veterans are appreciated.

Ride On!

Diamondback and the Beast were amazing. We did ERT for Diamondback Thursday morning, and wondered where everyone was. Front seat, first ride of the day. Followed by 8 non-stop re-rides. I have to say, spending the day at Kings Island, the ride ops at Cedar Point are so much more efficient. Windseeker took forever to load, but was a great to see nothing but trees. I still prefer to see the lake. Delirium was fun, but MaXair has it beat. The Drop Tower surprised me. Damn, that's high up there. Firehawk reminded me of Mantis--fun, but once is enough. If Magnum and Corkscrew had a baby, its name is Vortex. Flight of Fear--we need that at Cedar Point. Invertigo- you're fun, but you're not Wicked Twister. Racer- It's like a Gemini and Blue Streak combo...Loved it. Adventure Express---CCMR tie. Back Lot Stunt Coaster, fun, but get a real name. Mean Streak, I love you, but the Beast is in your bloodline, you should be this great. Millennium Force, Maverick, and TTD, you have no comparison. See you soon.

Kings Island is a great park. If you have time to go into Soak City, do it. It's a very nice waterpark, I haven't been this season but it was great before so I'm sure it's even better. The Beast is the best at night. Diamondback is the smoothest coaster I've even rode so make sure you get a ride on that. The Racer is pretty good as well as Flight of Fear. All the other coasters are just ok. Make sure you get the blue ice cream in Planet Snoopy, that stuff is good. Delirium and WindSeeker are also great flats.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
