Queue Lines

I guess we've had the "What would you do with the queue entrance sign, so maybe now we should have, "What would you do with the queue line." Be creative.

For one, make sure you spell "Millennium" right in all of your website stuff or else you look really uninformed and unintelligent to potential viewers of your site. Just a tip. ;o)

Yeah, we have had since July to learn how to spell "Millennium". It's amazing how many people still spell this wrong. What did the letter N ever do to you that you must always leave it out? Also, the word "The" does not precede names (unless you're talking about guys with large egos like The Donald and The Rock) so it's not the Millennium Force, it's just plain old Millennium Force. This is just a major pet peave of mine. Now back to the topic...
All I need in the line are those big mist fans and I'm set! Maybe some music but don't blast it over crappy, distorted speakers like they have in Raptor's line!

And incidentally, what is there to do with queue lines other than erect those shiny stainless steel rails?

Exactly what I was thinking.
A lot of parks put ‘theming’ (to use a RCT term) in their Queue lines. For example, I was just looking at pictures of the new Goliath coaster at Magic Mountain and they have themed statues, walls, trees, etc. in the queue. And of course, Disaster Transport used to have stuff to watch while waiting. And from what I have heard, IOA does this for all of their rides.
I don’t know what kind of theme is appropriate for MF. Maybe pictures or models of coasters throughout the past millennium? Or maybe some kind of space theme with aliens and space ships.
Just remember that Cedar Point is an "Amusement" Park not a "Theme" Park like six flags. Very few of Cedar Point's rides are "themed", so why should Millennium Force need it? And before you use the "because it's 310' tall, blah, blah, blah" argument, let me just remind you that CP didn't feel the need for theming with Magnum when it was the first coaster to break 200'. The bottom line is that MF is going to be an awesome ride whether or not they have crazy characters in costumes, loud music in the queue lines, or clever pictures on the sign. Let's not feel the need to "theme" this ride like other parks do to hide flaws in the ride itself. *** This post was edited by Evan on 2/18/00. ***
Just because CP has not used theming in the past (except for DT) does not mean it might not be appropriate in the future. I don’t think it would work with MF, but CP could decide to build another theme ride (like a dark ride) that would benefit from some queue line theming.
Anyway, the point of this topic is what would you (or I) do with the queue lines, not what is CP going to do. I agree that the MF does not ‘need’ any theming, but personally, I would not mind seeing CP do some theming in the future. I know DT was not a big hit, but if they build a new ride with a concept in mind from the beginning, I think they could do a good job,

Six Flags has themed queue lines? ;)

ray p.
Yes, Six Flags has themed Queue lines, Batman comes to mind.
You could always add that Huge television set they have for Mantis, or the misters that Mean Streak has. I hope they do not have a DJ, the music is bad and is too loud. I think a tribute to all of Cedar Points Rollercoasters would be nice, An exhibit for each coaster something to look at while you are waiting.

IOA does have HEAVILY themed queues but each ride is meant to be the culmination of the story told in each queue. Example, during the Hulk queue you're in Bruce Banner's lab and you see a video about how he feels being the Hulk. Unless MF has a story behind it(Which it obviously doesn't), stainless steel rails(the Hulk queue has these too) and mist fans will be more than enough for me.
Cedar Point is looked at by MANY people to be a relaxing, family environment, and by adding themeing to a park it really takes away from that. The Frontier Trail is suffering enough as it is already, let's not make it any worse. I do understand that this is a topic for "dreaming", but people are talking like something is wrong with the way CP is "themed", for lack of a better term.
About the themed thing...I think amusement parks DO have theming as much as some people hate to admit it, even Cedar Point and Kennywood! What do you think dark rides are all about? Cedar Point has Frontier Trail, Campo Snoopy, and Frontier Town! If that isn't theming, I don't know what is! Kennywood calls itself an amusement park, but just last year they added the Exterminator! That, my friends, is a themed ride...
If amusement parks didn't have any theming they would be machine parks full of dull looking buildings.

I like the idea of a tribute to CP's coasters of the Millennium.

The models of coasters would be very cool. I doubt it would happen but who knows...
Real theming is naming a coaster after a comic book hero or dedicating a section of the park to a movie studio. Theming is not putting a bunch of old west style shops and restaurants in a secluded area of the park. I do agree that the snoopy thing is themed, but you should note that at no time did I ever say NONE of CP's rides are themed(for that specific example in mind).

Cedar Point is fine the way it is.

Frontier Town/Trail is a theme. Don't you think the similarity in the way things look is a little too deliberate to be coincidence?

When I'm in the queue line, I will be thinking about the CP/LE. After all, the steam/smoke from the engines will be drifting onto us.
That isn't necessarily true Jon...the barbecue place was there before and it would've been bad if the steam and smoke from the RR would blow over that. On the midway in front of the BBQ all you can smell is the BBQ. Plus, they don't want people on the tracks so there will most assuredly be a fence between the tracks and MF (no citing the Gemini crossing as a contradicting example cause there's a train worker right in front of it hehe!!). Maybe the smoke from the engines will blow on you on the lift though....that might suck hehe.

Anyway, about theming, Disaster Transport is themed because it's actually got a plot (which is probably better than the ride itself!). Millennium Force will be just another HUGE rollercoaster. The best. I can't wait till opening day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

83 DAYS!!

When did ANYONE ever say that the theming in Frontier town is coincidence?
