Queue entrance sign: What would you do?

Jeff's avatar
What would you put on the sign with the height stick at the entrance to MF's queue? Someone asked this in another thread and commented that they hope it's not an astronaut, like Gemini.

Since there is no specific creature (that I can think of) to be associated with the name Millennium Force, I think that they should make the sign a Banshee. I don't particularly care that Mantis's name was changed from Banshee, but, maybe it would be a nice way to honor the former ride name without causing controversey. Mantis already has their Mantis sign, but at least, maybe, MF could have a Banshee.
MF in the form of a man! I don't know, something like a muscular robot like superhero looking dude. He would have to be colored blue with streaks of silver here and there. He would also have to be drawn to look very tall, with some clouds up around is head, holding the magnum in his palm for example.:)
I kind of agree w/ Natas' idea... but something more along the lines of the Steel Force mascot from Dorney Park. It looks like the banshee, except with steel/robotic hands. Some kind of mystereous looking figure of that sort would look cool.

What about an old Father Time looking guy but a little beefier?
i think it should look like something out of a new years eve party, like it countdowns or something, and they should have a d.j. play some music everyone could rock out to. and at night they could have strobelights and it could be just like a millenium new years party, that would totally rock

Isn't that similar Blue Streak's? I can't really remember.

Sorry Jeff, but thanks. I should have thought of starting a new topic thread.
I seem to remember that in 1996, when Mantis opened, it didn't have the sign that it has now (The mantis with "Just ride it" on his- err, her?- shirt). At least they didn't at the beginning of the season...

A roller coaster hill that's 52 (or whatever) inches tall?

CP fan since 68.

I say just to have MF's current logo with a faded layout of the ride in the backround..

Isn't that robot idea that Evan thought of a lot like the Magnum's sign?
I say an alien. If it wasnt a "family park" I would say use a huge bottle of beer! LOL

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

Just to clear this up:
What I'm thinking of is something more along the lines of the Iron Giant from that cartoon movie, just more muscular. I'm not familiar with the blue streak sign, but I do know the magnum sign quite well and what I had in mind was a bit different.

Since the promo video is going for a futuristic mysterious feel, I would say some dark cloaked figure as mentioned above. Although the ominous feel would be gone as soon as you see it hold a striped stick :)

Since I feel that Millenium Force is a really poor choice of names (who isn't sick of that word by now), made even worse now that the 2000 is here, we all survived Y2K, all the millenium buzz is in the past etc etc etc. I feel they should forget about trying to be futuristic (is 2000 any more futuristic then 1999). It would be cute to use something like a creatively drawn dinosaur with a neck shaped a little like the first hill or use a pirate figure from Pirate Ride. Provide a little comic relief for those who are afraid of heights but still ride 300ft coasters.

Oh, what's this obsession with Banshee? Why do we need to honor a name that wasn't used?

I'll be celebrating the millennium when it really starts (next year), but I say get the goofy guy in the promo video holding the logo on the curb to be the sign. I guess he'll have to hold the stick as well!

Hey Millrace, Ask me again in December if the year 2000 is any more futuristic than 1999 and the answer will be yes, for sure!:) But, I do see what you mean, this whole millennium hype was blown way out of proportion!
big time out of proportion....BIG TIME. but it is a name that people will remember. hopefully it doesn't have as much in common with the REAL Y2K i.e. "whole lotta fuss over whole lotta nothin'..." but i don't think it'll have that problem from what i've seen so far.

oh, yeah and while i'm at it, i kinda like the robot thing, but why not just call up LucasFilm and aquire usage rights to one of the Star Wars droids?? i mean, since "force" is such a prominent part of the name and all...:)
