QUESTIONS LOTS OF QUESTIONS!

Are the bunk beds in common dorms able to broke down into individual beds? if not is there any housing with bunk beds like that?

Job positions... I applied to work from april to october. over the course of me working there will my job position sometimes change or most likely will I stay at one position?

Roomies? are we able to choose room mates or are they randomly selected? & Is there a way you can meet room mates before move in.. such as through facebook cedar point page or some sort like that?

Living environment... Is it safe living there, is any housing that you would not really reccommend?

Free time.... where is there to go what is there to do when not working besides going to the park?

Things to bring... should i bring a mini fridge? what type of electronics should I & shouldn't I bring?

Money... Roughly around how much money should I bring for my expenses when arriving before my first paycheck...

Clothes..... what type of clothes should I bring & accessories...umbrella, poncho, hats etc.

(: JUST OVER ALL ANY TIPS & EXPERIENCES YOU CAN TELL ME :) sorry i know this is a lot of questions.... btw if any of you will be working there this year 2013 & have a fb if you could leave the link that would be nice so I can get to know some of my co-workers thank you in advance :)

1) No. You can not de-bunk any beds.

2) Your job will not change. You may work at different locations. Ex: if you're a cashier at Pagoda, you may be a cashier at Snoopy Boutique for a day or two.

3) There are groups via Facebook. You can generally reserve roommates up to a two weeks.

4) Yes, it is safe

5) Sandusky is just the same as any other town. There are restaurants, a library, and stores nearby.

6) Rooms are very small. Bring as little as possible.

7) As much as you spend living on your own for about 3 weeks.

-The short answer is no, they aren't allowed to be de-bunked. Some of the 3 person rooms do have one single bed in them, but it depends on the room.

-It'll likely stay the same unless you pursue a different position, and even then, there's no guarantee they'll let you switch to something different.

-Yes, although a lot of that depends on when you arrive due to room availability. If you're arriving in April, you shouldn't have a problem. It also helps to find people arriving around the same time as you, as they won't hold spots forever. There are Facebook groups (obviously not sanctioned by the park) devoted to finding roommates, that might be your best bet.

-It's like any other dorm or apartment building complex. Overall it's very safe, but you still need to be proactive about locking your door, keeping valuables in your locker, etc.

-If you have a vehicle, or are friends with someone who does, there are plenty of things to do in the area. Without a vehicle, your options are more limited, but there is a bus that runs to the mall and the occasional employee bus trip to regional attractions.

-Mini fridge, shower sandals, and a mattress pad are a must. Electronics are really up to you, although I'd advise against anything more than a laptop/tablet (that you lock up when you aren't using it). There are many threads on this forum discussing what to bring, so I suggest looking through those.

-Just off the top of my head, I'd say at least $100 (not counting the other $100 you'll need for your housing deposit) to get you to your first paycheck, which might be up to 3 weeks depending on how your start date/pay period lines up.

-Bring enough to be prepared for anything. If you're staying April-October, you'll likely see snow, wind, rain, extreme heat and everything in between. That said, don't go overboard because you don't have a ton of space for that stuff. Once the park opens, there will likely be days you don't wear anything other than your uniform.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

thank you so much :) btw what exactly should I type in the search bar on facebook when looking for groups?

Cedar Point Roommate Finder 2013 in the search bar. It's a good way to get to know the people before you actually move in.

No, you wont be able to change to bunk beds. However, some rooms will have just single bed, but in my opinion bottom bunk is the best because you can hang up curtains around your bed and have some privacy.

Job positions typically stay the same.. However if you were a life guard at soak city over the summer and want to continue working, theres a chance you could become a screamster for halloweekends. If you're a ride host, you'd more than likely going to stay in rides.

You can find roommates before you process in, or take a chance with random ones. I've done both, and it's been alright. I'd try to find someone working in the same department as you so your hours are the same. When you process into housing, you can save beds for people as long as there are enough beds and stuff. You do have to keep updating it if someone was to come later in the season.

Its pretty safe in my opinion. I, however, always locked up my laptop and my kindle when I wasnt in the room. Commons dorms have lockers for that purpose. I bought a safe my first year and it really wasnt that necessary lol. Any housing really depends on what you're willing to live in. Commons dorms are the only ones with AC but they're kind of small. The apartments are bigger, however you're sharing bathrooms that dont get cleaned hardly ever. Bayside is pretty legit but hard to get into. I've never stayed in golds or cedars so I really cant speak for that

Free time.. Theres a mall, and if you have a car there are things that arent too far away. Soak city is really fun for a day off, its free and you can just relax. Theres also Kalahari, but you'd have to pay for a day pass and that can be pricey. Just remember, you can drive to Cleveland for the day and have fun there. You could go to a baseball game, or the rock and roll hall of fame!

I'd say yes on a mini fridge, and a low-watt microwave. Very important. Even if someone is already bringing a fridge, having 2 is probably the best. For electronics, def bring your phone, and probably your laptop or a tablet. You can get access to wifi in the builiding and its better than waiting to use the rec computers.

I'd honestly bring around 300 dollars (not including your 100 dollar housing deposit), That should cover food, and any additional things you may have forgotten at home. You can go a little less than that, but I'd take more just to be safe.

My list typically is,

lots and lots of socks
2 pairs of jeans
2 pairs of shorts
5 shirts
a couple tank tops
swimsuit
shower shows
2 pairs of tennis shoes
slippers
pajamas
something cute if you want to go to the bar
a couple hoodies

Hope this helped!

I think one of the coolest places in Sandusky is Thirsty Pony - right outside the park. Fantastic restaurant, sports bar, bowling alley, water park, arcade, hotel, and horse racing parlor all in one. Seriously - fantastic food! Within walking distance of Commons.

Agreed! Thirsty Pony is amazing!

Deep fried pickles.

Thirsty Pony is great!
