Is there an ATM affiliated with Cedar Point?
Does the employee cafeteria accept debit cards? Is there a major part of "life" as a Cedar Point employee where I will need cash, or is a debit card fine?
Does anyone know if my ending day (given to me by HR) is flexible if I'm able to work later?
Is bringing a bike useful? Is it feasible to walk/ bike to the public library?
Thank you!
Also, what dimensions are the rooms in Gold? Would a trunk/ footlocker fit in the room? Are there bunkbeds? Is there access to a microwave?
the bank downtown on the corner of Water Street and....(ack I forgot the name!)- facing West-...used to have a 24/7 ATM in the lobby that let you withdraw money from your account in $5 increments...and there was no service fee for other banking facilities. I don't know if this may still hold true or not. It did last Summer.
It was very convenient when you 'just' needed $5 for a quick meal or a little gas in your car. I think that that is a great benefit to seasonal employees!
As far as biking, 'technically' you could, but I don't believe it is allowed on the Causeway. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I would sooner take a car, cab, bus or the Ferry over to downtown to take advantage of the public library's excellent facilities.
On the topic of debit cards, I do not know. In my everyday life, I use mine on a daily basis because I hate to carry cash. And there is no service fee via Huntington Bank.
The ATMs in the park have no bank affiliation. There will be a service charge regardless of what bank you use unless you have a bank that refunds those charges.
The employee cafeteria does take debit cards, and you could probably be fine with not carrying much cash. The only thing I can recall using cash for when I worked there was when I went to the bar, and that's only because bad things happen when I open a tab. :)
I'm not sure what the dimensions are in Gold, but they're pretty small rooms. As long as your roommates aren't slobs or space hogs, you should be fine with getting a trunk in there though. I believe all the rooms have bunk beds.
If you live in Commons you could easily bike or walk to the library. I think it's about 2 miles, maybe a little less. If you live on point (Gold or Cedars) you won't be allowed to have a bike since you can't use it on the peninsula or ride it down the Causeway.
as a former Housing Sup., I will tell you that the dimensions of Gold Dorm rooms are very small!! Also very narrow. And yes, as long as you are conservative with space, you can comfortably fit a trunk in here. And all rooms "do" have bunk beds. Rickety and old, but bunk beds nonetheless.
I would suggest researching/calling your bank and asking about service fees on your debit card. Some of them will waive the fees if you have both checking & savings. Debit cards are definitely the way to go!! The only thing I would suggest is to check your balance every Friday morning like I do, so you can maintain and have a solid idea of what's in your account if you go a lil' crazy.
And the library is 2.27 miles (6 minutes) from Commons Dorms according to Mapquest.
