Hi my name is Veronica and I am an 18 year old who is considering working at The Point this summer. I have a few questions about living at the point and would appreciate any answers I can get. First, are there any type of exercize facilities available for employees to use during their time off? Second, what type of night life is there at the point? I know they claim to be strict about underage drinking, but so do most college campuses. I am not looking to make the summer a huge party, but I don't want to be bored either.
To answer your question CP is building a brand new rec center this year for their employee's. 2nd, yea right, there is nothing but night life at CP, you have your pick at about 7 bars, most of wich its not hard to get served.

There is more to do at night other than drink though. I mean don't get me wrong we all have our nights at Louies, but I shutter to think that you would be bored if you didn't feel like going to the bar. CP has an ESD department that dedicates it's time to giving us "bored employees" something to do. Now granted not all of the activites are absolutely the best in fun, but it is something to fall back on if your other plans don't pan out. They have ride nights, movie nights, lip syncs, stuff like that. They also have Soak City nights and parties like the Calypso Bash where they open up rides and have free food and music and it is a good time. And then there is Big Bash...the craziest night of the summer. They open up a vast majority of the back of the park, they have rides open, free food (served up by Mr. Miears, other full timers, and those of us seasonals who REALLY want a free t-shirt), and there is a big huge raffle where they give out shirts, VCR's playstations, etc. It really is a good time.
So hopefully there will be enough up there to keep you occupied...and if that doesn't seem enough for you...there are plenty of people to meet in the dorms and there is always something going on there if you don't feel like going out or anything!
Well good luck and hope to see you up there!

Adding to it, there are two movie theatres on the strip (250) and no one can argue about our 3 am trips to Meijer's! And Heather's right, Big Bash is a blast! Actually, I had more fun working it this year, then going to it!

There is time to be bored? But I guess I shouldn't talk, I usually left for work after my roommates and was also done with work before they were. Carrie, I had a rough job didn't I? ;)
Veronica, where did you think you want to work?

Not to say your job wasn't rough (I'm sure you did just as much, if not more, than the rest of us). You were just lucky that you were always home before 10 pm no matter when the park closed!! I would've killed to work a "little" 12-hour O-C!! How many times this summer did I stumble in at 2 am and tell you how envious I was of you!?!?! Personally, I think the pet farmers have to put up with a lot more physical labor than most of us!

Many times I was just thankful to come home and be able to sit, relax and do nothing.
We do do a lot of physical labor, and the majority of it is done "behind the scenes" and after farm hours and so no one sees it. Thanks Carrie, for appreciating that!
(and much appreciation should go to you too, for your very long hours and mucho other crap!)

Regarding exercise facilities, even with the new rec center I don't foresee top of the line gym facilities, anyway what kind of time do you have to exercise with all the hours ya work hehe? I guess it would be nice though if they had a few weight machines, I would be really happy, and I probably would go there at night instead of the bar assuming it was open late. I wish there was a rink somewhere around there though, no hockey for me during the season. :o( Or maybe I will just check pickup times in Cleveland or somewhere else close that has a rink like I said I would do last year. O well, lookin forward to comin back anyway. :o)

If all else fails you could do what a couple of french guys did in my stand last year, they were health freaks and so they would go out back and lift sacks of potatoes, jugs of oil, anything they could find that was heavy. We had it named the hillbilly gym, because evrey time you walked back there they would be doing push ups, or curling sacks of potatoes!!
