I would like to know What qualifications do i need to get hired at CP, I would like to be on a crew as a ride op. Preferably a coaster.
I don't know if it worth my time even applying Cause of the background check,I have gotten in to some trouble in the past like when i was 18,but it stays with me forever if you know what i mean........
So please give me some input on it and please be really honest if you know that if anyone personally has gotten into trouble and has gotten hired as a ride op. let me know! you don't have to put any names, just let me know!
Cause i have always wanted to work there on the coasters, I though of working there as a maintenance person but the background check kind of kills it for me or deters me.I 'm no weird-o To boot i'm a red blooded born American that speaks English and only English, but i still have trouble getting a job cause of the background check, But are they really strict and by the book? or are they lenient on some things.
I'm enrolled in collage too as a para legal will that be a help as well?
Please Give me some details and let me know the whole deal and don't hide anything back,Cause like i said I want to apply and get hired in at CP.
Thanx
i think it all depends on what you got in trouble for and what not, however i am not 100% sure. i would say apply anyways and see what happens! what the worst that can happen you know.

From what I've heard, it does generally depend on what it was you got in trouble for. Just be honest on the application and interview and hope for the best.
The qualifications aren't too extreme. It does depend on what you got in trouble for. I don't know anyone who didn't get hired though. Just for the record...I'm also red blooded lol. But being American means very little, as you will come to see, Cedar Point hires TONS of people from other countries, it actually makes the summer much more interesting. I would definitely go for it, the only thing that may keep you from rides (depending on the trouble again) is that ride ops are required to do drug testing upon arrival. I have seen people get fired after failing a drug test. Other than that I say GO FOR IT.

well i don't do drugs so.... i guess that i might just go for it, cause the job situation looks really grim up here, i would just have to move down there cause i would have to get a house to live in with me and my wife and child.
I know they don't pay much but the little they give you is better than nothing, and providing at all, and with with what little feed back that i'm getting i'm getting the sense that it might work out for me. but let's just hope the wife has the same attitude as i do. but hey if anyone has any more feed back about this topic please still give me the insight cause the more i know the better i am going into this, you guys look like you are having fun and working hard too and i want a piece of that action,it might not be this summer but it might be next summer if things don't get any better here, and once again thank you for the insight-keep it coming the more i know the better.
Or i might take off for the summer and just stay down there my self and just send what extra money i get home, who knows but i know it probably won't be till next year!!!!
The pay is terrible actually, BUT you work so many hours that it isn't uncommon to have $800-$900 paychecks. For me, I made more than enough money to survive and save for other things. I know what you mean about lack of jobs though....it sucks =/

you work really long hours and get one day off a week; it's a LONG summer but it's definitely worth it.

also; depending on staffing- those $800-$900 paychecks may never happen. i worked on Dragster and we were over staffed most of the season until everyone went home for school- end of the summer/weekends is where i made my money because i open-closed every day. it really all depends on the ride and how staffing is; so don't get too excited for HUGE checks because you aren't guaranteed them, as with any job.

So what you guys are saying is the summer is really cool to work there but if i want like a weekend job(no pun intended!) then hallowed weekends is the place! If i want those FAT Chicks-I mean checks!
But do they hire just ride op's for the weekends or do i have to be there the whole summer first? and what kind of training is involved?
Like i said I'm really interested but i would like to know what is really going on before i go into battle!!!!! :)
A lot of people return for Halloweekends, so those arent the fat checks. She is talking about the few weeks prior to halloweekends after majority of staff has gone back to school. The people they hire for halloweekends are mainly screamsters.
Training is mainly being showed the routine(seat belts, lap bars, clear... etc.) Then you will run through the routine over and over and over again til you understand and can run through it as quickly as possible WHILE remaining safe. safety is #1!

The last few weeks of August and first weeks of September are when you will make the most money, basically because everyone is leaving for school and such. It's nice to have the money in your pocket though.
