Question on processing out...

So it seems like they like to keep you to 3 days before your first day of school begins. For me I feel like I need to process out much sooner so I can get ready to move into my place for the next school year and such. I sent an e-mail out to my manager wondering to process out earlier, but he basically said I need to send some school authorization form to be able to process out earlier. My lease requires me to move into my off campus apartment by mid August. Is that a legit excuse?

I'm not sure how that'll go. When is your process out date scheduled for?

I'm not sure I understand. Is your manager trying to convince you to stay later than the date you put on your application as the last day you are available to work, or are you trying to leave earlier than the date you put on your application?

If it is the first scenario, then your manager cannot make you stay past the date you put on your application as being the last day you can work.

If it is the second scenario, and you have decided you want to process out earlier than the end date you put on your application...well, that is not going to make your manager too happy. One of the biggest considerations made in the hiring process is how long an individual is able to work. Your manager could give you a new contract with a different process-out date, but it doesn't seem like he is agreeable to doing that....mid-August is pretty early to process out. CP would ideally like to hire people who can stay as long into the season as possible. If you originally said you could work to, say, the end of August or early Sept and now want to change it to mid-August...that's not going to put you in anyone's good graces.

Or does CP have some kind of new rule that college kids have to work up until 3 days before their school year begins?

What day are you set to process out currently? It is possible that you can work out something with your manager.

Yeah, the only way they'll let you leave early with good standing is a legit school/medical excuse with documentation. I'm not really sure if that counts...

They also kind of seem to be more lenient with these things if you stay for Halloweekends. I left about a week earlier than I needed to last year because I had job training and was moving into my apartment.

What department are you trying to do this with?
