Hi, I work in KI foods, and I have a question about one of the policies in CP foods.
Does CP allow the souvenir cup refill price to be used for refillable cups from the other Cedar Fair parks? I know that KI doesn't, but I've noticed that a lot of guests say that CP is telling guests that they can refill their cups at KI for the discounted price.
Thanks!
While I'm out of touch with current rules, guest service and the fact the customer is supposed to always be right leads me to what I think the answer is. NO!
And I can almost guarantee you that no employee said anything like that. I'm guessing one of 2 things happened.
Either the guest asked the cashier and misunderstood the question, which can happen when in a 20 word question, 'fair' is the only trick word. Guest " so I will be able to fill this at any Cedar (word) park for the entire year? If the cashier isn't giving 100% attention a yes can pop out. Between remembering the guests order, getting drinks prepared, handling cash, it's easy for something like that to happen.Granted I'm leaning towards what really happened.
A common thing at CP, is guests buying large mugs at the gift shops, then trying to get the refill price at food stands. Normally its the guest hoping or coming up with the idea themselves. And you'd be surprised how often they get what they want because it's easier to give the guest what they want. Rather than to argue with a guest and tell them they are wrong. They always say they were told by the clerk. From experience, I know they are lying most of the time. But again, the guest knows that guest service is important. And telling a guest no is not an option for general staff. Guests are even smart enough to pour a pop into the cup and say, well they did it at the other stand. They're just trying to refill it.
In the end, a supervisor will try and say no. Sometimes the guest will understand. But if they argue, they will get the refill. Since it only happens maybe once a day or two, making a guest happy is just easier than to have them complain to the world and make a scene out of it. Normally they don't come back.

In the 5 years I worked in foods we didn't run into that problem that much at all. There were times when a guest would bring up a cup they had bought from the gift shop or brought in for another Cedar Fair park and we gave them refill prices. The decision will come from either the stand supervisor and if he doesn't make the call he will call upon his area sups or manager. When I was an area sup, because we didn't get the request all that often I gave them the refill price and it never really became a problem. Most of the managers from my time have left CP so I could not tell you when kind of answer you would get today, but it never hurts to ask. If anything they should fill it up with ice water for free.
