Question about the Gemini for a school project...

I've been looking around for an answer to this question for at least 10 hours now. I figured that if any place, this would be the right one to ask this question, so here goes...

I'm doing a feature article for my journalism class on the Gemini. I read about a rumor here that the Gemini had to be rebuilt after its first test run. The page says that the first turnaround had to be lowered by five feet. I can't find anything to confirm that though! The person who created the page lists work experience at Cedar Point on his resumé.

Even if you can't answer this question, if you happen to know any interesting tidbits of info about the Gemini, those would be great! While I'm here, I might as well also ask, under what conditions are the trim brakes disengaged?

I'm not sure about that, but I do know for a fact that
Magnum is sinking.

No way! I'll have to mention that in my article somewhere *laughs at the thought*. Actually I once heard the same thing about the Mean Streak.

Sorry, couldn't resist throwing that in. I wish I could help
with your question about Gemini, but I really haven't
heard anything about that. I'm quite sure someone on here
can help though. Good luck.

Sorry for the first part of your question I really have no clue.

As for the trim brakes I believe that the only time that they are turned off is when the line is short enough that they close off rows and not sending out full trains.

Empty trains won't make it through the course with the trims on. Same with Magnum and Mean Streak.

Gemini valleys between the first and second hill every couple of years, so I don't think the rumor is far off. I'm not sure if that whole story is true though.

This is a hear-say tidbit... don't know how true..
A guy I worked with for 10 years said that his Uncle
helped construct the Gemini, The Uncle had an accident,
he apparently fell from the second track level, onto a
safety net, got off the net, got into his car and left,
and never returned to the construction site...
Apparently falling from that height is enough to make
someone quit construction... :)

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

I don't know for a fact that it was lowered but I can tell you for a fact that last year, I'm not sure if you can call it a valley, Gemini was stuck on the first turn around. Granted, they were testing empty trains so I'm sure the trims were off.I can only imagine that if it was any higher it would have been stuck there much more often.

Ride on, MrScott!

I know I've heard about Gemini's re-profiling before; I'm just not sure where. There's some discussion of it here, specifically with this post.

Same here Doug. I know I've heard about it, I just can't think of a reliable source to point to that says it was.

If anyone has the "Queen of American Watering Places" book, that might a good first place to check. I don't know how much they get into the Gemini era, but that's about the only reliable source I can think of short of actually contacting the park.

Goodbye MrScott

Thanks for all of the answers. I turned in the story and didn't mention anything about the rumor, but I'd still be interested in knowing if it was true...
