Yeah, usually the only contract problems arise when people need to SHORTEN their contract.
If you are an outstanding worker, dependable, etc., chances are good that you will be able to stay through the end of the season.
I think every department needs good workers who can stay throughout the end of the season, which is when help seems to disappear. So, my advice:
Mention to your manager that you may possibly be interested in staying longer -- that way, if something comes up early on, they can let you know that they'd like to keep you around.
